Where is Puning?
Puning is a county-level city located in the south-east of Guangdong Province, administered by Jieyang City, in the western part of the Chaoshan Plain, in the upper reaches of the Rongjiang, Lianjiang and Longjiang rivers. It is bordered by Chaoyang District and Chaonan District of Shantou City to the east, Huilai County to the south, Lufeng City and Luhe County to the southwest, Jiexi County to the northwest, and Rongcheng District and Jiedong County of Jieyang City to the north.
Puning has jurisdiction over 7 subdistricts, 17 towns and 1 township, and 8 township-level units, including 5 farms, 2 industrial parks and 1 Puqiao district.
A Brief History of Puning
Puning is now part of Jieyang City, and in ancient times, it belonged to Jieyang County, Nanhai County during the Han Dynasty. When did it start to establish the county, that is, in the forty-second year of Ming Jiajing (1563), from Chaoyang County, the capital of Chaozhou in Guangdong Province, the area of Yangwu, Shuishui and Huangkeng was newly established in Puning County, which was the beginning of the establishment of Puning County. However, it was not until the forty-fourth year of Jiajing, that is, in 1565, that the first Zhixian Zhao Yu arrived, and the county office was placed in the residence of Guiyu in Chaoyang County. It was not until the fourteenth year of the Wanli Calendar (1586) that the county administration was moved to Houyu, which is now Hongyang.

1. Nigou Ancient Village
The ancient village is located in Nigou Village, Liaoyuan Town, and is famous for its hometown of overseas Chinese and culture. 2. De'Anri
Located in Nancun, Hongyang Town, De'anli is a family collection village jointly built by The Admiral of Guangdong and the famous general Fang Yao and his brothers in the late Qing Dynasty, and is the largest, most completely preserved, and long-lived giant Fudi-style architectural group in Chaoshan area, and is also a rare Fudi-style ancient village in China.
It was built in the tenth year of Tongzhi (1871 AD) and completed in the sixteenth year of Guangxu, with a history of more than 140 years. The whole De'anli is divided into three parts: "Old Village", "Middle Village" and "New Village". There are living rooms, ancestral halls, Buddhist halls, study halls, bedrooms, dining rooms, warehouses, attics, gatehouses, as well as the square in front of the village, the back garden, the lotus pond, the gate of the village, the wall, and there is a moat outside the wall, with a total of 773 houses. The scale of the whole building, the fine construction, and the beauty of the shape can be called a wonderful flower of architectural art.
3. Peifeng Tower
Peifeng Pagoda is located in Houkeng Village, Hongyang Town, Puning City, also known as Wuli Pagoda, built in the seventh year of the Qianlong Qing Dynasty, the tower is 36 meters high, a total of seven floors, octagonal shape, one of the "Eight Views of Puning".
Peifeng Pagoda is quaint in shape, majestic and magnificent, stable and upright, standing majestically for more than 200 years. The eaves of the Peifeng Tower are stacked with red bricks. The highest tower cavity has a built-in algae well, and there is a corridor outside, and each corner of the corridor has a stone pillar, and the column is made of tiles and triad soil to make a curly grass pattern, and the shape of the stone is elegant and beautiful. Climbing to the top of the tower and looking at the railing, hongyang town can be seen in the whole picture, while the Rongjiang River in the north is gushing, which is very spectacular.
4. Wu Li Di
Wuluodi, also known as the former residence of Yang Shi Soul, is located in Renhouli, Zhongtang Village, Nanxi Town. The building is a residential house with a "four-point gold" as the main body of the Chaoshan local characteristics traditional architectural style, which was built by Yang Shiling's grandfather during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. Behind the main seat is the back seat of the "Riding Double Tiger" with an east and west side doors; the main seat is connected to the east side of the back seat, separated by a 2-meter-wide passage alley, which is a row of east wing rooms, connected to the gatehouse a total of 11 rooms. Renhouli is 24.2 meters wide from east to west, 49.8 meters deep from north to south, and has a construction area of 1205 square meters. The walls are made of rammed earth and the roof is made of tile wood.
Yang Shiling, a prominent Communist Party member during the Guangdong Provincial Revolution, was arrested in Wuhan in May 1929. In prison, he was unyielding and heroic, sacrificed at the age of 27, and hung next to the gate a patriotic education base and a government-issued "glorious martyr's family". 5. Nanyan Ancient Temple
Nanyan Ancient Temple, known as Nan'an in ancient times, is located on the Feifeng Mountain of The Old Cuo Dou in Nanxi Town, and is one of the eight ancient views of Puning, known as "Nanyan Distant View", and is also a famous site of Zen Buddhism in Lingnan. The ancient temple has a long history, many cultural relics, rich cultural landscapes, and has the largest scale and number of jade Buddha statues in the country, enjoying the reputation of "Oriental Jade Buddha Country".
Nanyan Ancient Temple has a long history, its predecessor is Nanyan Qingniu Cave, according to legend, the ancestors of the Shang Dynasty worshiped the ancient Buddha here to burn lamps, and the Temple was built during the Tang Dynasty. Due to the damage caused by natural disasters, in the first year of the Ming Dynasty (1621 AD), Yunwencai and Wu Iding of Puning Zhi County further built the Nanyan Ancient Temple and expanded the scale of the ancient temple.
