Shikazu Kawa is a popular first-line artist in contemporary Japan, her figure shuttles through photography, fashion, film, design, advertising, good at using unique colors and light, putting the pictures she captures into the palette, making the colors bright and psychedelic, making people unforgettable.
Recently, Shanghai Shangsheng New Institute Tsubasa Bookstore specially exhibited the "Escape" series of artworks in the central hall of the 1st floor, which is a new appearance of the artist's works in China since the 2017 Shanghai Shuchuan Real Flower Exhibition.
Exhibit works
"Escape", the latest collection of Polaroid artwork by artist Masakazu Kawakawa, first released in Tokyo in early 2021, is her record of the purest melodies of light and shadow in everyday life. This series of artworks, framed in a special German-made aluminium frame for one-of-a-kind Polaroid photographs, conveys to the viewer everything that escapes reality and immerses themselves in the psychedelic world created by Shikazu Kawa.
With its rich colors and flat composition, the visual language of Shihana Kugawa completely inherits the style of traditional Japanese ukiyo-e, and radiates a kind of "real flower aesthetic" that is completely of its own. The series is also presented in The latest solo exhibition "Between Fiction and Reality" by Shika Kawakawa, held at the Ueno Noburi Museum of Art.
On October 27th, Shikagawa shared her creative mood and new artistic insights with the readers of Tsutaya Bookstore through an online meeting and sharing session, allowing readers to follow her perspective and feelings and immerse themselves in wonderful light and color.
Due to the strict control of the global epidemic, although she was unable to attend the scene in person, Shikazu Kawa expressed great expectations for this limited display in this form at the Shangsheng New Institute Tsutaya Bookstore in Shanghai, China. She said on the internet: "In the past year or so, our world has experienced a lot of ups and downs, many new situations and challenges, I use the lens to capture every unique and wonderful moment in time, I hope to open a new fantasy and mysterious world of light and shadow for everyone, and I also hope that everyone can have their own interpretation and understanding in the 'World of Curled River'." ”

The colors are bizarre, but the objects are seemingly ordinary everyday. "Everything you see every day may be something you take for granted, but if you look at it with your shooting eyes, everything will be different," says Shika, "Everything will be different." ”

The "M/mika ninagawa" wedding dress, designed and directed by Shika Kagawa herself, has also been on display in the art world since it was first unveiled in 2015 with the frequency of two series per year.
