According to reports, this rice breeding base is established by Inner Mongolia Jiatai Green Agriculture Development Co., Ltd. in cooperation with the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, mainly cultivating high-quality rice varieties that can be widely used in the cultivation of saline-alkali land in Inner Mongolia. After three years of careful breeding, genetic analysis and field verification, the rice breeding base has successfully selected and bred a new variety of high-quality saline-alkali rice - "Jinhuangxiang No. 3".

According to the on-site production measurement of the inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Academy of Agricultural and Animal Husbandry Sciences, the Hohhot Agricultural and Animal Husbandry Technology Extension Center and the relevant experts of the Tumut Zuoqi Agricultural Security Service Center, the "Jinhuangxiang No. 3" rice green planting plot yielded 887.28 kg per mu, the organic planting plot yielded 726.03 kg per mu, and the comprehensive average yield was 806.66 kg per mu.

The expert group unanimously agreed that the "Jinhuangxiang No. 3" rice has the advantages of salt and alkali resistance, short growth period and no lodging, and is a new variety of high-yield and high-quality saline-alkali rice specially cultivated along the Yellow River irrigation area. This rice is cultivated by combining fragrant rice, late rice genes and anti-salinity gene modules, and has the characteristics of grainy smoothness, soft glutinous and delicious, chewy and sweet aftertaste.

Lin Shaoyang, a researcher at the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that the promotion and planting of "Golden Huangxiang No. 3" rice has radiated to 3 flag counties around Hohhot City and Zhunggar Banner in Ordos City, with a total area of 3,000 mu. In the next few years, the promotion and cultivation of this variety has great potential.

It is understood that due to the long-term irrigation of the Yellow River with high salinity content, the phenomenon of salinization of cultivated land has occurred in the Hetao Plain of Inner Mongolia and the Tumochuan Plain. In recent years, with the continuous implementation of comprehensive projects such as land improvement in the local area, thousands of mu of saline and alkali land have become fertile fields, and farmers have embarked on the road of planting new "rice".
