Jia Jilin has a classmate who is more famous with the same list of jinshi, he is the famous Tang Dynasty border poet Li Ji.

Li Ji (李颀), whose ancestral home was Zhao Commandery (赵郡, in present-day Zhao County, Hebei), settled in Yingyang (present-day Dengfeng, Henan). Li Ji was a rich man, and his family was not short of money. But when he was a teenager, Li Ji was very clumsy and made friends with a bunch of floating prodigal children. The fox friends ate, drank, and played all day, squandering, and soon lost their abundant family property. Be cautious when making friends, Li Ji's experience tells us that this is really not a joke.

After bankruptcy, Li Ji suddenly repented and began to live in seclusion at home to study hard and study intently. After ten years of cold windows, Li Yifang was the title of the gold list, jinshi and the first. At this time, Li Ji was already a thirty-five-year-old middle-aged man. The bitterness and bitterness of the study period can be imagined. It is said that the prodigal son does not change the gold, but it is still necessary to turn back early.

After joining the work, Li Ji was appointed as a county lieutenant in Xinxiang (新乡, in modern Xinxiang County, Henan). It is probably because it is difficult for people to adapt to the official environment in personality and way of doing things, li Yishi is very unhappy, and he has been walking in the official field for a long time and cannot be promoted and reused. For example, some historical records have commented on Li Ji as follows: "Sexual simplicity, tired of world affairs." This means that he has a high personality, arrogant and unsociable, and does not like to do some transactional work. Such a person is naturally difficult to get the appreciation of the boss and the like of colleagues.

China's officialdom is always filled with great upward temptations. People in the official arena who cannot be promoted for a long time will naturally have a strong feeling of being marginalized and having small and helpless. In this case, it is inevitable to have a pessimistic and tired mood about the officialdom, such as Li Ji.

Li Ji, who felt that it was difficult to mix in the official field, resigned and went back to seclusion in desperation. After resigning from the government, Li Ji mainly did two things at home, one was to write poetry and the other was to refine Dan and seek immortality. Writing poetry is to cultivate temperament, which is worthy of appreciation. Alchemy is to prolong life, which is a bit superstitious and ignorant, and the meaning of going crazy.

Li Ji's act of refining Dan and seeking immortality was quite famous at that time. For example, in the poem written by the famous poet Wang Wei to Li Qi, there is a sentence such as "Smell the jun bait Dansha, even have a good color" ("Gift to Li Qi"). It seems that Li Qi's elixir, no matter how effective the medicine is, the appearance value is still relatively high. This shows that he has put a lot of effort into this. As for whether eating it will help health and longevity, it is difficult to say. If you don't do it well, there will be side effects.

Things are clustered in groups, and people are grouped. For the people in the officialdom, Li Ji is different from each other. But he was willing to associate with people he regarded as like-minded, such as poets. For example, Wang Wei, Gao Shi, Wang Changling, Qi Wuqian and other famous poets of the Tang Dynasty all had good friendships with Li Qi and exchanged poems with each other. In society, people have a desire to communicate. A person who seems to be high and unsociable is probably because he has not found like-minded friends. Li Ji's experience shows that some people's personalities are indeed not suitable for mixing in the official arena. Since we find it inappropriate, it is better to retreat and withdraw early, so as not to stay up and suffer in it.

Li Ji had a friend named Chen Zhangfu, who was a very famous talent at that time. In Chen Zhangfu's body, there was a story related to the imperial examination. One year, Chen Zhangfu registered for the one-subject examination and passed the test. Before issuing the admission letter, the staff found that he was a black household registration officer, that is, there was no corresponding household registration file. In accordance with the relevant provisions of the imperial examination, the competent department decided not to hire Chen Zhangfu.

Chen Zhangfu was not satisfied with this decision, so he ran to the competent department to appeal and defend his rights. None of the staff of the competent departments could persuade Chen Zhangfu, who could speak eloquently, so they handed over the contradictions and reported them to the prime minister for personal decision. After listening to the report and reviewing the relevant appeal materials, the prime minister felt that Chen Zhangfu's words were reasonable, and he was also a talent, so he made a decision to admit him. Chen Zhangfu, a small scholar, alarmed such a high-level official for his own rights protection, and has not yet been treated by bureaucracy that prevaricates and beats up the bureaucracy, which makes people feel a little strange. You know, this happened more than a thousand years ago!

Chen Zhangfu's bold and successful act of defending his rights in one fell swoop made him famous all over the world. Scholars and scholars are all amazed. However, like Li Qi, Chen Zhangfu's career path was also very unsatisfactory. After working as a sesame official for a while, he took off his black hat himself, and from then on he returned to the countryside, traveled around, and became a crane in the clouds. Before Chen Zhangfu returned to his hometown, Li Ji specially wrote a poem entitled "Send chen Zhangfu" to send him off. "Send Chen Zhangfu" is a more influential Tang poem.

Li Ji can write poems in various genres and formats, and is especially good at creating seven-character poems. Among Li Ji's poems, the artistic standard of Bian Sai poetry is the highest. Li Ji's biansai poems, with their generous and unrestrained style, desolate and tragic, were quite famous in the Tang Dynasty. His masterpiece "Ancient Military Journey" can also occupy a place in the history of Chinese poetry. Here, let us enjoy this masterpiece: "Climb the mountain in the daytime and look at the beacon, and drink the horses and cross the river at dusk." Pedestrians fight in the wind and sand, and the princess pipa has many grievances. Camping has no city, rain and snow have even the desert. Hu Yan mourned and flew at night, and Hu Er's tears fell in both directions. Hearing that the jade gate is still covered, you should drive your life away. Years and years of war bones buried outside, empty peach into the Han family. ”

Among Jia Jilin and Li Ji's classmates in the same list, two people have a certain degree of popularity. One was Xiao Yingshi of the Yingchuan (present-day Xuchang, Henan) clan, and the other was Li Hua of the Zhao Prefecture Zanhuang (present-day Zanhuang County, Hebei). In the Tang Dynasty, these two people were masters of dancing and ink.
