The school invited Professor Li Jun of Capital Normal University to give a high-end academic lecture entitled "Advanced Translation Teaching and Foreign Language Composite Talent Training" in the screening hall on the first floor of the library of our university. Gao Qian, Vice President of the School, attended the lecture, and some teachers and students of the School of Spanish Language and the School of English attended the lecture. The lecture was presided over by Dai Yanyun, Executive Dean of the Western Language Institute.
Professor Li Jun told about his interesting experience in Africa and the shortage of high-end talents in foreign languages in China with the development of foreign trade and economic cooperation after the reform and opening up. Combining his experiences at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he brings to life the new ways of translation and the importance of compound foreign language talent with real-life examples. He used vivid examples to convey to the students the basic knowledge and professional qualities that a translator should have, and also taught the training mode and shorthand method of simultaneous interpretation and consecutive interpretation, which aroused great interest among the teachers and students present.
In the interactive session, Professor Li Jun gave very detailed answers to the students' questions on applying for master's degree students in French, French learning, and employment development of foreign language majors.
Professor Li Jun used his rich translation experience to combine theory and practice to give a vivid lecture for teachers and students of our institute, which provided a reference for students' translation learning, teachers' translation teaching, and the cultivation of compound foreign language talents in our school.
Professor Li Jun is a member of the Foreign Language Teaching and Guidance Committee of the Ministry of Education, a senior economist, an expert member of the China Translation Association, and a professor at Capital Normal University.
