Li Jun was born in Jinan, Shandong Province on November 29, 1961. His father, Li Tiegang, graduated from the "Rongchun Society" in Beijing, sang with a flower face, and played "Yang Zirong" in the modern Peking Opera "Outwitting Tiger Mountain", and was a famous actor in the Mountain Tokyo Theater.

Li Jun's mother, Dong Shuxian, is a well-known Peking Opera Lao Dan actor. Li Jun's uncle is Dong Chunbo, a famous old student of the Qi School, and a personal disciple of Peking Opera master Zhou Xinfang.
In 1962, Li Tiegang and his wife were transferred from the Mountain Tokyo Theater to work in the Qingdao Peking Opera Troupe.
Li Jun's grandfather is a famous Hebei Bangzi actor, with the stage name "Dong Dazi", who was quite well-known in Shandong, Hebei, Beijing and Tianjin in the forties and fifties of the last century.
Li Jun is the eldest son in the family, and he has two younger brothers, all three of whom grew up in the Qingdao Peking Opera Troupe.
When his parents sang on stage when he was a child, he threw Li Jun in the theater box. The actors threw their costumes into the box at will, and almost suffocated Li Jun to death several times.

Li Jun was 7 years old cooking at home and taking care of his two younger brothers. After making dinner, he would send it to the theater for his parents to eat, and by the way, he would watch his parents perform.

At that time, Peking Opera troupes across the country implemented a contract system to generate income for the troupe, and the Mountain Tokyo Theater was no exception. Li Jun was at a loss, but he was helpless. Under the coercion of the situation, Li Jun went to the county towns and rural areas of Shandong, Hebei and other places with the contracted performance team of the unit.
In order to make more money, the performance team changed venues overnight. Every time they arrived at a place, Li Jun and his colleagues set up the stage during the day, slept for a few hours in the afternoon, and acted on stage at night.
Lack of sleep, coupled with excessive fatigue, left Li Jun's physical strength overdrawn. However, he is the leading actor of the performance team, and he has to take the lead, and Li Jun can often fall asleep by leaning on the side of the stage.

When Li Jun accompanied the troupe to perform "The Horror of the Han Palace" in Hebei, he performed three consecutive performances at the request of the audience. At the end of each performance, the audience applauded, and Li Jun had to take a curtain call many times.

In June 1988, a Hong Kong film company invited 16 Peking Opera masters from Beijing, Shanghai, Shandong and other places to perform in Hong Kong, and Li Jun was also invited.
On the 5th day of the performance, Ma Changli, a famous Ma Pai and Yang Pai veteran, was putting on makeup in the dressing room and preparing to perform "Qing Guanshu" on stage, when he suddenly lost his voice.
Saving a scene is like fighting a fire. But the accompanying few veteran civil and military actors are not familiar with "Qing Official Book", and no one dares to save the scene. There are still more than an hour to go on stage, and the leaders of the team are in a hurry.

Li Jun had studied the "Qing Official Book", and he took the initiative to ask Ying to replace Ma Changli on stage. At that time, Li Jun was only 25 years old and had no popularity, so everyone sweated for him.
But Li Jun's heroic appearance and loud voice made the audience of more than 1,000 people applaud thunderously. In the end, Li Jun successfully completed the performance of "Qing Official Book".
After the performance, Ma Changli was very excited, took Li Jun's hand and said: I accepted you as a student, and I want to teach you all my plays. Hearing this, Li Jun was so excited that he burst into tears.
Under the personal teaching of Ma Changli, Li Jun learned famous Ma dramas such as "Harmony with Xiangxiang" and "Broken Secret Stream".

In 1991, Li Jun participated in the National Young and Middle-aged Peking Opera Performers TV Grand Prix and won the Best Performance Award with a play "Drumming and Scolding Cao".
Peking Opera master Li Mingsheng was one of the judges of the competition. During Li Jun's rehearsal, there was a word that he sang down, and Li Mingsheng pointed it out on the spot and taught him the correct way to sing, which moved Li Jun very much.
After the competition, Li Jun proposed to worship Li Mingsheng as a teacher, but was politely refused.
At this time, Li Jun was 30 years old and had already had a girlfriend, but because both of them were busy chasing their dreams, they never entered into marriage.

Li Jun's girlfriend's name is Guo Sujuan, who is also from Shandong, born in 1962, 1 year younger than Li Jun. She was admitted to Shandong Opera School at the age of 14, and after graduation, she was assigned to Shandong Liuzi Opera Troupe as an actor and won the first prize of provincial performance.
In 1989, Guo Sujuan entered the Shanghai Theater Academy for further study, and she was 32 years old when she got her diploma in 1994.
After graduating from university, Guo Sujuan joined Shanghai TV "Drama Stage" as a choreographer and director, and won the first prize of the first national provincial and municipal TV station excellent column program.

In 1994, Li Jun and Guo Sujuan got married in Shanghai. After marriage, the couple had a son.
When Guo Sujuan first became a choreographer, her eyes were black in Shanghai. Li Jun helped his wife contact the interview subject, provided her with all kinds of information about the theater industry, and Li Jun basically took care of the housework.

In October 1996, with the support of his wife, Li Jun was admitted to the graduate class of the China Academy of Drama. When he was studying in Beijing, Guo Sujuan supported a family by herself and endured pressure from all sides, but she had no complaints.
During the winter and summer vacations, Li Jun returned to Shanghai and had to go out with the troupe to perform. During Li Jun's three years of graduate school, Guo Sujuan hardly saw her husband, and the couple had little time to reunite throughout the year.

Li Jun won a full house with the song "Fighting the Tiger on the Mountain". At the end of the performance, Li Jun and his wife were invited by the famous Peking Opera performers Ju Yong and Xing Hongmei in the San Francisco Bay Area to visit the Bay Area.

In 2021, Li Jun officially retired from the Shanghai Peking Opera Company. But he still performs and participates in a lot of social activities every year.

It turned out that in early May, Li Jun suddenly felt unbearable pain in his lower back, and his wife Guo Sujuan accompanied him to the hospital for examination. After diagnosis, Li Jun's 4th, 5th, and 6th lumbar discs herniated, compressing the lumbar nerve, causing him to be in pain.
In this case, Li Jun was hospitalized for treatment, and Guo Sujuan assisted the nurse in taking care of her husband at the hospital.
For more than half a month, Li Jun was so painful that he couldn't walk, and he had to use a wheelchair to record a program on a TV station.
After systematic treatment, Li Jun's symptoms were alleviated in early July and his walking function was restored, but he was unable to engage in strenuous exercise.
