According to South Korea's "JoongAng Daily" reported on the 28th, affected by the autumn frost, the prices of Korean lettuce, spinach, celery, cabbage and other vegetables have soared. On the 27th, the price of a lettuce in a large supermarket in Seoul reached 9,600 won (about 52 yuan).

Under the influence of the cold wave, the supply of lettuce could not keep up, and chain burgers and sandwich shops were affected. McDonald's in South Korea has sold hamburgers in the past week without lettuce leaves, McDonald's posted a notice in the store on the 21st that "coupons are provided to customers due to unstable supply of lettuce", and Subway recently posted a notice in the store that "temporarily suspended the sale of salad", saying that the lettuce leaves in the sandwich can only be provided in quantities.

South Korea's McDonald's said that "efforts are being made to return to normal in many ways" and that "it is not yet possible to assert when it will be able to resume", saying that due to the company's certain standards for food safety and quality, it is impossible to suddenly change suppliers. Lotte Lee and Burger King continue to supply lettuce leaves. South Korea's Burger King said that "although the frost disaster has caused problems in the supply of lettuce, as of now, we can still get the supply" and "will do our best to ensure the stability of the supply chain".

South Korea's circulation industry said that lettuce production has been seriously affected by the long-term rainy season this year, coupled with the sudden cold wave in October, the output of the production area has dropped by about 70% compared with previous years. Not only lettuce, but also the prices of leafy vegetables such as cabbage, spinach, lettuce, and broccoli are constantly rising.
