The forest defense station of the Ganhe Forestry Bureau hangs red-eyed bee egg cards to control pine caterpillars

author:Lin Hai Daily

Recently, the Forest Defense Station of the Ganhe Forestry Bureau organized staff to hang red-eyed bee egg cards in the 31 forest classes of the Reservoir Management and Conservation Institute to control pine caterpillars in 02,000 mu, and adopted the method of "treating insects with insects" to promote pollution-free biological control technology to ensure the safety of forest resources.

Hanging egg card biocontrol technology utilizes a pheromone released by pests when laying eggs. Red-eyed wasps can quickly find the eggs of pests through these pheromones, crawl on the surface of the vermin eggs, and constantly knock on the egg shell, quickly and accurately find the freshest pest eggs, and then lay eggs and reproduce inside the vermin eggs. After the artificial breeding "red-eyed bee" is released, it will automatically search for the host and parasitize the eggs of the pest, so as to effectively control the population and density of the pest and achieve the purpose of control. Before the implementation of the control, the staff of the forest defense station of this bureau investigated the density of larval insect populations in the control site and the control area in early May, and timely put the red-eyed bee egg card into the 31 forest class of the forest farm in the reservoir, and the egg card was required to be 20m apart, 4-6 hanging per mu, and the hanging height was 2m.
