Narrator Huang Jian
Huang Luofeng, formerly known as Huang Yan, was born in February 1909 in Heqing County, Yunnan Province. He is an outstanding member of the Communist Party of China, a pioneer and founder of China's revolutionary cultural publishing cause, a famous publisher, the main founder of "Sanlian Bookstore", and an important organizer of the Xinhua Bookstore Distribution Network.
Time goes back to 1927 at Yunnan Provincial No. 1 Middle School (KunYi Middle School), where 18-year-old Huang Luofeng joined the Communist Party of China. According to Huang Jian's recollection, in his contacts with Li Guozhu, Wan Guoquan, Ai Siqi and other progressive figures, Huang Luofeng became extremely interested in the Communist Manifesto and Marxist progressive ideas, and what followed was a change in thinking. The following year, Huang Luofeng was appointed secretary of the CPC Yunnan Yimen, Anning, and Lufeng County Special Committee; in 1930, he studied in Japan, and after the "918" incident in 1931, he resolutely returned to China to join the anti-Japanese movement.
In 1936, Huang Luofeng co-founded the Reading Life Publishing House (later renamed the Reading Publishing House) with Li Gongpu, Ai Siqi, Liu Xiang and Zheng Yili in Shanghai, and served as the manager for a long time, taking the dissemination of Marxism as the long-term task and the anti-Japanese national salvation as the realistic task. A large number of progressive books have been published successively, and Marxist classics have been published in a planned manner. In 1938, with the vision and fearlessness of a strategist, they published the "Bible of the Working Class", the first full translation of capital Chinese.
This three-volume tome of more than 2 million words, Capital, was published in the "isolated island" of Shanghai surrounded by Japanese troops, when Song Qingling, Feng Yuxiang, Shao Lizi and other social celebrities had booked this book, and the great influence of the book was evident. This shows the foresight of Huang Luofeng, Aischi and others, and has also written a glorious page in the history of modern publishing. In 1947, the reprint of Capital further encouraged and propagated revolution and emancipation of the mind.
In October 1948, according to the instructions of the Party, the three bookstores of life, new knowledge and reading were formally established in Hong Kong, and the general office of Sanlian Bookstore was formally established, with Huang Luofeng as the chairman of the management committee of Sanlian Bookstore. In February 1949, Huang Luofeng went to Beijing to prepare for the establishment of the Publishing Committee and served as the chairman of the committee. In April 1950, the General Administration of Publications decided to establish the General Management Office of Xinhua Bookstore to unify the Xinhua Bookstore nationwide, with Huang Luofeng as the general manager.
In terms of the dissemination of advanced Marxist ideas, Huang Luofeng, as a pioneer and founder of China's revolutionary cultural publishing cause and a famous publisher, has made indelible contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Communist Party of China.
Narrator Huang Yansheng
In the eyes of Huang Luofeng's daughter Huang Yansheng, his father has always taught himself to do practical things, even if it is a small thing like drying clothes, "My father once said that although what you do is a small thing, you must understand its meaning and contribute to mankind." "Huang Yansheng's father's teachings have always been remembered.
