Mencius, in the Confucian school, was revered as the "sub-saint" after Confucius, and posterity even put him and Confucius's academic concepts together, calling it the "way of Confucius and Mencius".
Why is Mencius so powerful? In fact, it is inseparable from a woman.
This woman was his mother.
When Mencius was very young, his father died, leaving him and his mother to live together. At that time, the place where Mencius's family lived, next to a cemetery, often came to bury relatives or come to worship during the New Year's Festival.
Mencius saw it, and even together with his friends, like an adult, he played the game of handling funerals, and he knelt down and cried again.
When Meng Mu saw it, she thought in her heart:
"This is not so Juzi also."
This is not where my son should stay. Because if this situation continues, when he grows up, he will at most give people a black and white happy event or something.

Therefore, Meng Mu decided to move. Where to move? Moved to a market.
As a result, Mencius did not learn the funeral routine anymore, but began to look at those small merchants and vendors, learning to usher in and send, and bargaining. What's even worse is that he even imitated the butcher and learned to slaughter for a living.
After Meng Mu found out, she felt even more inappropriate:
"It's not so much."
It's also not where my son should stay. Because I learned this, when I grew up, I was at best a peddler butcher.
So Meng Mu decided to move again. Where did you move this time? Moved to the side of the School Palace.
At that time, the "school palace" was equivalent to the current school. It's just that it is not open to the whole people, but only the children of nobles like the Secretary of State can go inside to learn.
But even so, Mencius learned to bow and bow, as well as the etiquette of humility.
Meng Mu saw it and was very comforted in her heart:
"This can really be a child also."
That's where my son should live. Since then, they have settled here.
This is the allusion to the "Three Migrations of Mengmu", from the "Inscription of Mencius" by the Eastern Han Dynasty classicist Zhao Qi.
In fact, the story of Meng's mother and godson had been widely circulated before this. For example, Han Bao, a doctor during the han wendi period, has a record of Meng Mu in the article. Later, people believed that the reason why Mencius was able to learn the "six arts" and become a great Confucian after Confucius, and even was revered as "Ya sheng", was because Meng Mu was good at indoctrination.
In fact, this view is still relatively scientific to this day.
The impact of the surrounding living environment on a person cannot be ignored even by adults, let alone for a child. The child's perception and understanding of the world begins with the environment he is exposed to and the surrounding environment.
From this point of view, creating a beneficial living environment for children is far better than reporting for a few classes.
Because one is the indoctrination of words and deeds, and the other is only the indoctrination of knowledge.
The advantages and disadvantages can be imagined.
