So, once, Meng Mu was weaving cloth and saw Mencius returning from the academy. Meng Mu asked, "During this time, how was the study?" Mencius replied casually: "Still like that, it is not good or bad." In this way, Meng Mu was very angry, and casually picked up scissors and cut the newly woven cloth. Mencius saw that his mother cut off the cloth that had just been woven, and he was very afraid, but he did not understand why his mother cut the cloth, so he asked his mother the reason, and Meng's mother said with a heavy heart: "Child, learning and spinning and weaving is a truth, the cloth cannot be cut and connected, learning is not always hard, and if you do not learn the new, you will never learn well." After Mencius listened, he understood his mother's good intentions, and from then on he studied hard and seriously studied literature.

Mencius was a philosopher, thinker, politician, and educator during the Warring States period, a native of the Zou Dynasty, who admired Confucianism and was particularly in favor of Confucius's thought, so he aspired to engage in the study of Confucianism.
