There is a low hill near my hometown in the countryside, which the locals call "little mountain back", which is where my grandmother took me to play often.
Everywhere on the mountain you can see a cluster of low leek flowers, leek-like stems and leaves are evergreen all year round, and the white flowers are straight up, and there is no delicate twist of the flowers. There is a particularly smooth cement floor in the middle of the mountain, and it is difficult to see a single fallen leaf. In the middle, a high place is surrounded by stone slabs, like a tomb that is much larger than an ordinary grave. My grandmother told me that it was the "Tomb of the Martyrs," which buried the People's Liberation Army that had died in battle. The incomplete child listened, repeated "People's Liberation Army, People's Liberation Army" in his mouth, grabbed a handful of leeks, "giggled" and ran away.

By the time I was in kindergarten, my grandmother, the origin of the martyr's tomb, had already told me many times: After the outbreak of the Korean War in 1950, Chiang Kai-shek felt that the time had come to "counterattack the mainland", and they gathered more than 12,000 remnants of the miscellaneous army centered on Dachen Island, often blocking the waterway and plundering fishing boats. The Baisha Island in front of our house is across the sea from Dachen Island and Yijiangshan Island, and when the tide is low, people and horses can land on foot, which is a key place along the coast of the console state and a "bridgehead" for the enemy and us to compete.
On the night of March 28, 1952, with drizzle and dark nights shrouding the sea, the Kuomintang "Jiangsu and Zhejiang Anti-Communist Assault Army" fought the first battle of "counter-attack on the mainland" in order to ensure the success of the first attack, and led more than 1,000 people to sneak attack Baisha Island. The officers and men of the People's Liberation Army stationed on the island stubbornly resisted with the heroic and fearless spirit of "people in the position," waited for reinforcements, fought bloody battles with the enemy for more than 10 hours, and defended the motherland's territory with their lives. This is the "Battle of Baisha Mountain", and the mausoleum in front of you is buried with the bones of 22 of these martyrs.

Once, I asked my grandmother, "You can't read, how can you be so familiar with this history?" Grandma said, "Silly child, where does this matter need to be read from books, we have known it since we were young!" "Grandma, the book says that 'Little Mountain Back' has an official name called 'Eagle Mountain', the eagle of the eagle!"
After I understood things, I often went to the mountains, but I didn't play anymore, the ground under my feet had once been stained red with blood, it was so thick, so worthy of respect. Pick a handful of white leeks and place them silently in front of the martyrs' tombs.
A few days ago, my mother and I came to Eagle Hill together, and the clearing was as smooth and clean as ever. Looking to the southeast, the sea and sky meet the newly built BaishaWan Park and toumengang Economic Development Zone, which will be a new type of city with characteristics that integrates "mountains, cities, bays and seas". They are far away from the martyrs' mausoleums, with good fields in the middle, high-rise buildings, and wide roads full of traffic. For a hundred years, the town ushered in its golden period of development.
A memorial that will soon be rebuilt
At this time, a group of staff members came and heard that they were going to renovate the martyrs' cemetery, and they had set up a working group to collect historical materials for the defense of Baisha Mountain, and were planning to rebuild a memorial hall of the "Battle of the Islands" and related theme parks.
