During the Three Kingdoms period at the end of the Han Dynasty, there were many princes who divided one side, including the famous "White Horse General" Gongsun Zhan. Nowadays, when people talk about Gongsun Zhan, most of them only have the impression of "Liu Bei's former friend", in fact, the historical Gongsun Zhan once had a prestige that once shook northern Xinjiang. In the early days of Gongsun Zhan's battle with Yuan Shao, he also had the upper hand for a time. Not only that, Gongsun Zhan was also a fierce general like a cloud, and three of them were great generals, namely Yan Gang, Zhao Yun, and Tian Yu.

First of all, Yan Gang was introduced, who was the first fierce general under Gongsun Zhan. Although Yan Gang is not very famous, he has an elite unit under him, called "White Horse Yicong". According to the Book of the Later Han Dynasty, "Dozens of people who were good at shooting often rode on white horses, thinking that they were left and right wings, and called themselves 'white horses and righteous followers'. In the war between Gongsun Zhan and the Hu people in the north, Baima Yicong, commanded by Jizhou Assassin Shi Yangang, can be said to be famous. The White Horse Yicong is a light cavalry type, and its greatest advantages are good shooting and high mobility.

Whenever there is a battle, Bai Ma Yicong can always easily tear apart the Hu people's defenses, and after a big battle, he can go away. Because of this, Yan Gang and his commander-in-chief of the White Horse Yicong enjoyed a high reputation in the Wuhuan and Xianbei ministries, "Wuhuan is more telling, avoiding the long history of the white horse." Unfortunately, when Gongsun Zhan was fighting Yuan Shao, due to a command error, Yan Gang and his subordinate Baima Yicong were eventually damaged under the crossbow of Yuan Shao's general Ju Yi.

It should be pointed out that Zhao Yun was also a member of the White Horse Yicong, but he began his own path to fame because he left Gongsun Zhan early. After Zhao Yun left Gongsun Zhan, he became Liu Bei's number one bodyguard. Although Zhao Yun's status was not very remarkable from the perspective of the official position he held, his ability to always serve as Liu Bei's personal bodyguard was enough to show his importance and trust in the Shu Han clique. On the way to Liu Bei's business, Zhao Yun was also conscientious and saved Liu Bei from danger several times.

Because of this, when the historian Chen Shou wrote a biography of him, he believed that Zhao Yun had worked hard and made great achievements, and he ranked it side by side with Guan Yu Zhang Fei and others and merged it into one biography. In the Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms, the ranking of these five people is "Guan Zhang Ma Huang Zhao". After the Ming Dynasty novel "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" spread throughout the north and south of the great river, the perfect image of a martial general of Changshan Zhao Zilong's loyalty and righteousness touched countless readers, and "Guan Zhang Zhao Ma Huang" gradually developed into the so-called Shu Han "Five Tiger Generals". Later generations praised Zhao Yun for "the heart of the dragon running through the golden stone, the righteousness of thin clouds, and not reducing the tension", and the wisdom and courage and perfection, and the "wind of the ancient minister".

The third general was Tian Yu, who was also a former friend of Liu Bei. As we all know, Liu Bei once defected to Gongsun Zhan, and Tian Yu also joined Gongsun Zhan at this time. Unfortunately, although Tian Yu was very skilled, Gongsun Zhan did not trust him very much, and the Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms and the Biography of Tian Yu recorded that "although Tian Yu knew that Yu had the right to plot, he could not do it." In this way, Tian Yu finally chose to join Cao Cao's command. After joining the Cao Wei clique, Tian Yu was appointed as the Taishou of Nanyang, and because of his decisive and courageous actions, he was soon valued by Cao Cao. Soon after, Tian Yu was transferred to northern Xinjiang, defeating Wuhuan and Xianbei successively, and also appeasing and educating the barbarian tribes in the north, which can be described as outstanding achievements. Tian Yu's prestige has also made countless Hu people afraid, "Wai Hu heard of its prestige and came to offer it." The borders of the state are peaceful, and the people cherish it. Even among the famous Cao Wei clique, Tian Yu was also the first person to guard northern Xinjiang.
