This is a video of a public place retrieved by the police in Xianyang, Shaanxi Province, while handling the case. In the video, it can be clearly seen that the suspect took advantage of some women walking or riding bicycles to tail up and quickly steal the mobile phone in the pocket of the victim's coat.
After entering October this year, the number of mobile phone thefts on the road in Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province, has increased significantly, from one or two per day to more than 20 per day at its peak. Most of these pickpocketing cases occur in crowded markets, supermarkets, bus stops and other locations. After in-depth sorting out and comprehensive research and judgment of such cases, the police found that the modus operandi of these cases was similar, and it was very likely that they were committed by the same gang.
On the one hand, the police strengthened the frequency of street patrols and sent plainclothes police to secretly crouch in areas with high incidence of cases; on the other hand, they used big data platforms to try to find clues to the gang. After a large number of investigations, the police first determined the identity of a criminal suspect in the gang: Li Moumou, born in 1991, from Danzhou, Hainan. Through the study and judgment of Li Moumou's activity trajectory and the people he interacted with, the police gradually identified a well-organized and clear division of labor theft gang. The gang is hiding in a community on Century Avenue in Xianyang, with more than 10 people, renting three units. On October 28, the police thundered and arrested 12 criminal suspects on the spot and seized 31 mobile phones involved in the case.
After interrogation, the task force quickly grasped the personnel structure of the gang. Since November 20, the police of the special case team have gone to Hainan to continue to arrest the absconding suspects. As of December 17, the special case team has arrested 21 criminal suspects of the gang, seized more than 100 mobile phones involved in the case, and broken more than 200 cases of mobile phone theft in other jurisdictions. At present, the recovery of stolen goods and the arrest of the line are still in progress. According to the characteristics of the case, the police reminded that in the autumn and winter, people wear thicker clothes, the body touch is not sensitive, and valuables should not be packed in the pockets of coats as much as possible, so as not to give criminals an opportunity.
