Chen Zhu, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, said in a video speech at the opening ceremony of the Fourth Belt and Road Forum on the Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine on the morning of the 5th.

Chen Zhu said that based on the new development stage, implementing the new development concept, and building a new development pattern, it is necessary to inherit, make good use of and develop the cause of traditional Chinese medicine, better protect the life safety and physical health of the people, comprehensively promote the construction of "Healthy China", and contribute Chinese wisdom to the construction of a community of human health. Traditional Chinese medicine has a history of more than 5,000 years of development, including the Chinese nation's long-standing concept of health care, upholding the overall concept, advocating dialectical thinking and treatment, and has unique advantages in preventing pre-existing diseases, treating common diseases, multiple diseases and difficult diseases. It is necessary to follow the law of the development of traditional Chinese medicine, establish a service system, service model, management model, and talent training model that conforms to the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine, so that traditional Chinese medicine can be carried forward. It is necessary to continuously promote mutual learning and mutual learning between traditional medicine and modern medicine, pay attention to the use of modern science to interpret the principles of traditional Chinese medicine, promote the establishment of a health development model in which Traditional Chinese and Western medicine complement each other and develop in a coordinated manner, and provide more high-quality health services for the people.

The second is to give full play to the role of traditional Chinese medicine in the prevention and treatment of the new crown pneumonia epidemic. The combination of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine and the equal emphasis on Chinese and Western medicine are a major feature of the prevention and control of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, and also a vivid practice of inheriting the essence of traditional Chinese medicine and keeping integrity and innovation. At present, the global epidemic is still ongoing, and it is very difficult to prevent and control the mutations such as Delta, and the most important task of the international community is still to fight the new crown pneumonia epidemic. China will scientifically summarize and evaluate the effect of Chinese and Western medicines in the treatment of new crown pneumonia, and use scientific methods to explain the efficacy of traditional Chinese medicines in the treatment of new crown pneumonia. We are willing to continue to share the experience and practices of traditional Chinese medicine in fighting the epidemic with countries in need, establish an effective cooperation mechanism, jointly respond to the epidemic, and safeguard global and regional public health security.

The third is to promote the service of traditional Chinese medicine to the world.
