……

On the afternoon of April 12, when she looked back at her volunteer service journey through photos, Yan Jie's eyes shone.

Yan Jie is a police officer of the Xi'an Municipal Public Security Bureau and a volunteer of the Xi'an Sunshine And Love Education Promotion Association. Recently, the 2020 National Lei Feng Volunteer Service "Four 100" Advanced Typical Publicity and Selection Activity jointly organized by the Central Propaganda Department, the Central Civilization Office and other departments released the list of advanced models, and she was selected as the most beautiful volunteer.

Behind this honor is Yan Jie's ten years of persistence and dedication.

"In the fall of 2011, I went with my colleagues to Lantian County to visit and comfort left-behind children. Before I went, I heard that there was a primary school there with poor teaching conditions, not even a campus radio, and every Monday morning the principal pulled the erhu to hold a flag-raising ceremony for the students. Later, the Xi'an Municipal Public Security Bureau sent school uniforms to the children, built a library, a cultural and sports room for the school, and built a cement platform for raising the flag. Therefore, the principal specially invited us to participate in the first flag-raising ceremony after the renovation of the school. At that time, watching the children wearing new school uniforms and saluting the five-star red flag with their heads up, I had an indescribable feeling in my heart, and I made up my mind to do what I could to help them. Yan Jie said.

Since then, Yan Jie's footsteps have not stopped. Usually busy and trivial work, she uses her spare time to go deep into the remote mountain primary school in Lantian County, Xi'an Children's Welfare Institute and other places to help children with homework and send them life and school supplies. She also participated in the Xi'an Lafeng Public Welfare Book Delivery Into the Village Volunteer Organization, often using weekends to go to Xianyang, Baoji and other places to carry out "mobile library" activities, and open a window for children with reading.

"Around 2017, when I visited students at the former Qianjiawan Primary School in Lantian County, I met a little girl named Wang Yuxuan. Because of the poor conditions at home, her parents have been working outside for many years, and she has been living with her grandparents. After learning about the situation, I often went to help her with her homework and sent her some clothes and school supplies. Slowly, the little girl became more and more cheerful. Every time she calls me 'police mom,' I feel warm in my heart. Yan Jie said with a smile.

Years of experience have made Yan Jie feel that volunteer service can not simply rely on enthusiasm, but also innovate content and form, and accurately serve people in need. As a result, she has participated in volunteer services such as mental health lectures for the elderly, psychological sand table experience, and hospice care for many times, paying attention to the mental health of the elderly. In 2015, Yan Jie used her expertise in psychological counseling to establish the first mental health service center in the public security system of Xi'an City, and compiled the "Police Mental Health Reader", carried out more than 100 public welfare lectures, and cared for the frontline police.

Last year, after the outbreak of the epidemic, Yan Jie led the establishment of the Xi'an Municipal Public Security Bureau Anti-epidemic Psychological Service Group to carry out all-weather online and offline psychological assistance services through telephone, WeChat, email and other means; opened the "Police Anti-epidemic Aerial Micro Classroom", and produced audio and video such as "Butterfly Beat", "Hypnosis Decompression" and "Body Scanning" for problems such as stress and sleep, which helped more than 3,000 police auxiliary police officers to correctly understand the epidemic situation, alleviate pressure, and enhance their confidence and determination to win the battle against epidemic prevention and control.

"Next, in addition to paying attention to left-behind children and the elderly, I hope to participate in social investigations, psychological interventions, legal services and other work for juveniles involved in crimes in my spare time, so as to help juveniles correct their bad behavior and reintegrate them into social life." Speaking of her next "ten-year appointment" with volunteer service, Yan Jie is full of expectations.
