Annual herb. The stem is prostrate, multi-branched, 15–30 cm long; the branches are scattered, weak, smooth or with white, slightly rough lines, and the internodes are usually shorter than the leaves. Leaves are alternate; sessile; the sheath of the leaves is transparent and the edges are torn; the leaf lines are narrow oblong or slightly spoon-shaped, small, 6–18 mm long and 2–5 mm wide, blunt at the apex, tapering at the base into a short stalk. The flowers are very small, with short stalks, 1-3 clusters grow in clusters within the sheath of the leaves; the flower indument is less than 2 mm long, 5 deeply lobed, the lobes are green, and the edges are white; the stamens are 5, below the middle and are synthmic with the flower, shorter than the flower infardle; the peduncle 3. The fruit is ovate and has 3 edges. The flowering and fruiting period is from May to June.
