Chen Zude, the first president of the China Chess Academy, was born on February 19, 1944 in Shanghai to an intellectual family, the younger brother of Chen Zufen, the author of the novel "The Motherland Above All Else.". He has shown talent in Go since he was a child, especially after learning from his Predecessors Gu Shuiru, Liu Dihuai and others, and his chess skills have greatly increased, and he entered the national training team in 1961 and won the national individual championship three times.
In 1963 and 1965, Chen Zude defeated The Japanese Sugan Masao Kudan and Tatsuaki Iwata of Japan respectively (black in each game) and Fenxian (alternately black) to break the myth of "Japan's nine dan invincibles" and become the first Chinese to defeat Japanese nine-dan players in China.
In 1965, during the visit of the Chinese Go delegation to Japan, Chen Zude launched a new layout of Go, which achieved great repercussions, which was later praised by the Go community as "Chinese Stream", and Chen Zude was called the founder of "Chinese Stream Layout".
Hong Kong martial arts novelist Jin Yong once worshiped Chen Zude as a teacher. Nie Weiping, a go player, said of Chen Zude: "In the 70s, my chess players were also very murderous, and ordinary chess players were not in the question. But as soon as I touched Chen Zude, I softened, because he was stronger and more ferocious than me. I touched him like cotton met a steel plate. ”
