Looking back at Chinese Go: It belongs to the Chen Wu era of Chen Zude Wu Songsheng

Chen Zude Wu Songsheng Wang Runan visited Sina

The "Chinese Go Review" series is serialized, reviewing the various aspects of the development of New China's Go.

Series 2 "Chen Wu Era" (I)

In the early morning of December 23, 2007, in Sydney, Australia, a generation of great power players Wu Songsheng passed away in a long way, and the first three nine-dan chess players in China selected in 1982 could no longer appear in front of the world together. The condolence telegram of the Chinese Weiqi Association wrote, "Mr. Wu Songsheng is one of the representatives of the first generation of outstanding chess players in New China, and has made important contributions to the revival of the cause of Chinese Weiqi.

Short and deep, the sea breeze in Sydney took away the stories of those deceased people, sealed in the green history of bamboo Jane, dust sealed between the eyebrows of the bottom of the heart. The new peach and the old charms are getting old every year, but we still can't forget the brilliant light that illuminated the striped chess pieces of the homeland shenzhou in the bleak years of Chinese Go.

(Mr. Wu Songsheng)

Therefore, we marked those names with heavy traces in the years, and then intercepted a section of the old calendar in the long river of time, and crowned these names before the times, as the greatest respect and respect that future generations can express to the sages. In the history of modern Go in China, there is also such an era, the long night of winter has gradually faded, the morning sun is in the near future, the cold and cold, those who have entered the history of the old people, the moment is the scorching wind.

They watched the whole night, and also used their solid pace on the long road of chess to invite the warm sunrise of Chinese Go in advance. How much blood and tears are condensed in the night, and when the stars are like the moon, the hearts in those days are hard to imagine at this time. It's just that today, half a century later, when we mention that era again, we will add two people's surnames, "Chen Wu" in front of it.

In the early autumn of 1963, when Mr. Chen Zude confronted Masao Suganai in the Yuexin Hall of Beihai Park, Wu Songsheng, who was a year younger than him, faced Naoto Miyamoto, the second strongest member of the visiting Japanese delegation. Similar to Masao Sugiuchi, Naoto Miyamoto is also called the "evergreen tree" of the Japanese chess world, born in the "Half-Eye Throne", the founder of the Kansai Chess Academy, Yutaro Hashimoto Kudanza, in 2010, the 76-year-old Mr. Miyamoto, can still beat Nagasaki Yuji-5dan in the Honinbo Qualifiers and win the last victory of his long career. At the time of his visit to China half a century ago, it was the peak of Miyamoto's Go years, in 1963 and 1964, he entered the Celebrity Battle tournament for two consecutive years, and in 1964 he also entered the tournament of the Honinfang Battle, and in 1968 he won one of the predecessors of the Tianyuan War, the Kansai Chess Academy player Quan Zhan, and was promoted to jiudan the following year. China's two young men who have not yet reached the weakest crown, facing two famous chess players in Japan, such a match seems to have fallen into a clear disadvantage.

However, even before Mr. Chen Zude won, Wu Songsheng had already ended his chess game early, defeated Miyamoto Naoichi Yadan, won the first of the five games of the day, and together with Chen Zude breaking the myth of "Japan's nine-dan invincible", made September 27, 1963 an important day in the history of Chinese Go. The horn of the revival of Chinese Go sounded, and the curtain of the "Chen Wu era" was officially opened.

In fact, the dawn of the times has been sprinkled on the land of China in 1962. In that year's National Go Individual Tournament, the best of the old and new eras gathered in Hefei to compete for the final championship, and because the top three in this tournament will be awarded the title of five dan, it naturally has more attraction for chess players. In the past four national individual competitions, the top three are almost all the older generation of chess players who have become famous before the founding of the People's Republic of China, "South Liu Beiguo", Wang Youchen, Huang Yongji, these represent the highest level of the era of the big players, continue to exert their thousands of talents. However, inadvertently, those new forces are also speeding up the pace of taking over the scepter, in 1960, Chen Zude has entered the top three of the national individual competition, and two years later, the new generation of chess players have occupied three of the top five, in addition to Dong Wenyuan and Guo Tisheng, who reached the last peak of his career, Chen Zude, Wu Songsheng and 20-year-old Shen Guosun, respectively, won the second, third and fifth places. On the chess scene of Shenzhou, the new wind and rain have washed away the cleansing, and the young names have begun to be written in the temple of Go again and again. In the top five lists of the three national Individual Go Tournaments from 1962 to 1966, we can see too many familiar names, Mr. Wang Runan and Mr. Luo Jianwen, who later became important members of the Chinese Chess Academy and the China Weiqi Association, and Mr. Zhang Futian became the enlightenment teacher of Nie Weiping Qisheng.

(Mr. Chen Zude and Mr. Wang Runan, both excellent representatives of the first generation of chess players in New China)

It's just that in that era, they weren't really protagonists. In 1964 and 1966, Chen Zude and Wu Songsheng sat firmly in the top two positions in the national Go individual competition. In the confrontation with Japanese chess players, young Chinese young players are also blooming with more and more dazzling brilliance.

In the summer of 1964, the Chinese Go delegation once again went to Dongying and crossed the ocean to welcome the arrival of another Sino-Japanese Go friendly match. Unlike the previous delegation, the oldest of the six Chinese chess players in this year is not more than 25 years old, and the youngest Wang Runan is only 17 years old. The brushes of history have left very interesting ink marks here, perhaps because of seeing young Chinese players, the Japanese chess world has also arranged a confrontation between Chinese and Japanese young people.

Chen Zude, Wu Songsheng, Luo Jianwen, Ohtake Hero, Naohiko Yoshino, Norio Kudo. Twenty years later, when the fifty-year-old Hero Otake won the Fujitsu Cup and vented the final triumph of Japanese Go with a proud and idealistic aesthetic chess game, the Chinese chess players of his contemporaries had faded from the chess world, and the encounter and miss of those top chess players was the luck and regret of Go. Fortunately, although the peak period was staggered from each other, at least in their youth, they had such a match.

In 2002, Chen Zude and Otake Hero on the Toyota Cup met again, holding the wine, laughing and talking, fifty years of smoke and dust, in the still bright and sharp eyes, it seems to be just a flick of the fingers, and in thousands of thoughts, the match when they first met, probably will always float up in the depths of the river of time, reflected in the sideburns. Five games, three wins, two losses and one draw, the relative advantage is actually the young people in China, among them, in the strongest three chess players to catch the match, Chen Zude defeated hero Otake, Wu Songsheng defeated Naohiko Yoshino, Luo Jianwen defeated Norio Kudo, such a vivid victory, while shocking the Chinese and Japanese chess world.

In the next few decades, the Sino-Japanese chess world will set off waves from the six young people sitting at this moment. Chen Zude became the first president of the Chinese Chess Academy, and Otake Hero also created the "Bamboo Forest Era", after achieving six super first-class achievements, in 2008 became the chairman of the Japanese Chess Academy, the time has changed, the Japanese chess world at this moment has declined, it is difficult to find victory in the Three Kingdoms Go Tournament, when he was appointed to the defeated army, between the orders and dangers, the Hero of Otake encountered almost the same difficulties that Chen Zude faced at that time. Rather, this is another interesting joke made by history.
