3. The first Chess Championship

In the autumn of 1988, after my research and that of Ma Si dun, we decided to take the lead in holding the first chess championship in the name of the Heilongjiang Chess Academy. On the one hand, I want to train young players through competitions, on the other hand, I also want to expand the influence of the chess academy and create some momentum.

The chess championship was held, which was the first in China at that time. In order to make this competition run smoothly, I spent more than a month to sponsor the competition. On October 9, 1988, the Chess Championship was officially held, and the competition was strongly supported by China Sports Newspaper, Heilongjiang Daily newspaper and Heilongjiang Television Station. Mr. Fok Ying Tung, President of the Asian Chess Federation, wrote an inscription for the competition: "Practice chess skills and enhance friendship." Secretary Li Jianbai, as the honorary director of the organizing committee of the competition, also wrote an inscription for the competition: Gathering wind and clouds, galloping in the chess world.

In addition to me, there were Hu Ronghua, Liu Dahua, Li Laiqun, Zhao Guorong and Bu Fengbo, as well as the Philippine chess king Chen Luoping and the Hong Kong chess king Zeng Yiqian were also invited to participate in the competition. The competition is a round-robin and one-plate format, which is held in Harbin, Daqing and Anda respectively.

In this competition, Zhao Guorong played well, the points have been leading, and it is very likely to win the championship, but due to my momentary "greed", the champion has fallen aside.

In the penultimate round, Hu Ronghua and I met. At that time, Zhao Guorong had the highest number of points, followed by Hu Ronghua, and if I and Hu Ronghua made peace, Zhao Guorong could win the championship steadily. The game was played in the city of Anda and was an open-air performance that attracted nearly a thousand chess fans. I started with a hand-to-hand shot, and when I reached the twentieth hand, there was an opportunity to form a no-change peace between the two sides. But as soon as I watched, there were so many enthusiastic chess fans watching, so I simply reconciled, so sorry for everyone. And I feel like my situation is still an advantage if I win. I can also break into the top three. So he took the initiative to change, trying to make the game more intense. However, he later took a missing step, and as a result, Hu Ronghua was sent to the same position as Zhao Guorong. In the last round, they were both four wins and three draws, and they had to play fast chess. In the fast chess, Zhao Guorong lost to Hu Ronghua and won the second place, and Hu Ronghua became the first chess king in the history of Chinese chess. The following rankings are: Liu Dahua, Li Laiqun, Bu Fengbo, I, Zeng Yiqian, Chen Luoping.

The competition was a complete success, and after consultation between the organizing committee of the conference and the relevant people from all walks of life, the chess championship will continue to be held once a year and become a traditional event. And from the second session to select the challenger, challenge Hu Ronghua, and compete for the chess king.

4. 5th Asian Cup

Two months later, the fifth "Asian Cup" chess tournament was held in Singapore, and Chinese Taipei participated in this tournament for the first time, for which the Chinese team sent the strongest lineups of Hu Ronghua, Liu Dahua and Li Laiqun, and I was also invited as a guest to attend the meeting. In the game, although the Taipei team has good strength, it is not the opponent of the Chinese team, and in the end it can only be relegated to the second place, and the Chinese team holds the cup for the fifth time.

After the game, in order to promote and develop the art of chess, the Asian Elephant Federation specially issued honorary certificates to famous chess players, Hu Ronghua and seven others were awarded the title of international grandmaster, and I was awarded the title of international master.
