In fact, as a veteran figure of the Kuomintang, Zou Lu was inseparable from the relationship between CUHK and the University of China.
Zou Lu (1885-1954), formerly known as Cheng, was the owner of Chenglu and a native of Tai Po, Guangdong. From 1902 onwards, Zou Lu studied at Hanshan Academy and Guangdong Law and Politics School. Later, he joined the League and participated in many anti-Qing uprisings. In 1923, Zou Lu became the director of the Department of Finance of Guangdong Province, and the following year organized Guangdong University (the predecessor of CUHK) and served as the first president.

In order to meet the needs of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he personally led and participated in the anti-Japanese patriotic movement of teachers and students, and vigorously advocated military and national education, in order to achieve the goal of cultivating talents for students to defend their families and defend the country during the period of national disaster.
During Zou Lu's tenure at CUHK, he trained nearly 5,000 graduates, and the students were scattered all over the world, and he once had a poem: "Blue Wisp Road Qishan Forest, Inch Mountain Village Exhausted Gold." On September 18, 2004, in order to celebrate the 80th anniversary of CUHK, Zou Yongxian and Zou Fangnu, descendants of the Zou clan, donated their treasured ZouLu cultural relics to CUHK free of charge, including Zou Lu letters, photos, seals and their handwritten books "New Campus Of National Sun Yat-sen University" and "Afterword of the New Campus of National Sun Yat-sen University". These precious cultural relics have been exhibited in the "President Zou Lu Memorial Room" of cuHK Library, which is the best memorial to the president who has twice presided over CUHK and made outstanding contributions to the development of CUHK.
Zou Lu's former residence in Chayang Town, Tai Po County, is now an important cultural relics protection unit.
Zou Lu's former residence was built in the Qing Dynasty, a positive four horizontal pattern, a total of 24 rooms inside, the overall hall style, the appearance of the atmosphere is elegant, the details show the elegant atmosphere of cultural people, is one of the Meizhou Confucian residences, but also the "mansion" level building at that time.
Walking into Zou Lu's former residence, you can see the special exhibition of Zou Lu's life with the words "From The Son of Hakka to an Educator", introducing Zou Lu's contributions to China's education cause through pictures and texts.
Zou Lu's former residence, formerly known as "Chun Sen Di", was rebuilt on the basis of Zou ShouJu for his parents, and the door of the building has the word "Shou Lu" on it.
Due to the disrepair, the walls, wooden shelves, doors, windows, stairs, etc. of the former residence have been seriously damaged, and in late May 2020, Tai Po County repaired the entire "ChunSendi" building. After several months of intense repairs, the walls, doors, windows, and roof tiles of the former residence have been renewed.
The newly renovated Chunsendi retains the original style of the traditional Hakka houses, the figures on both sides of the gate, the landscape murals are still faintly visible, the wood carved unicorns and elephants on the beams are vivid, and the beams are exquisitely painted.
Walking into Chun Sen Di, the interior has basically completed the exhibition, and Zou Lu's life has slowly come to people.
Zou Lu has made great contributions to Chinese cultural education in his lifetime, and I hope that the clan relatives will have time to visit Zou Lu's former residence and understand the life of a generation of great educators!
