Founded in 2007 in Edinburgh, Scotland, The Whisky Barrel (TWB) is an online liquor e-commerce company that sells whisky and won The Queen's Award for Enterprise in 2019.
On July 17, 2019, TWB released a new self-bottled whisky collection, the Apollo Moon (Apollo Series). This series commemorates the entire Apollo moon landing program, as well as the major historical moments in it. Previously, TBB has launched 11 wines under the Apollo series, and details about this series and each wine can be found at the end of the article.
On January 31, 1971, Apollo 14 was launched, which was the eighth manned mission in the Apollo program and the third successful human landing on the moon. On February 5 of the same year, Apollo 14 landed safely on the lunar Flats of The Mauro. Later, Alan Shepard, who was also the commander-in-chief at the time, made a makeshift golf club out of an iron rod and other metalwork, and he also took two golf balls to the moon, and then played golf balls on the moon. He played a total of two goals, one of which went into the pit and the other rolled farther than the first. Alan Shepard once claimed that its second ball on the moon flew N miles and miles and miles. In fact, according to the later analysis of scientists based on the video data of the moon landing, the first ball he played at that time flew 24 yards, and the second ball flew 40 yards.
To commemorate this historic moment, TWB released a new Apollo series, Miles & Miles & Miles (MMM). It is worth noting that, like the 11th wine in the Apollo series, MMM's label uses illustrations drawn by British artist Jamie Coe. MMM is a single-barrel wine from the Highland Park distillery in Scotland, distilled in 2006, matured in 1st Fill Pedro Ximénez Sherry Hogshead, bottled in July 2021, aged 15 years, 61.8% ABV, 700ml capacity and 316 bottles.
