On October 27, 1911, Tengchong launched the Tengyue Xinhai Uprising, and took the lead in firing the first shot of the Xinhai Revolution in Yunnan. In May 1942, the Japanese invaded Tengchong, occupied for two years, four months and four days, the Chinese Expeditionary Force and the people of Tengchong paid great sacrifices, and were recovered on September 14, 1944. Tengchong has completely preserved the national patriotism education base - the Anti-Japanese Memorial Cemetery, that is, the National Memorial Cemetery, and built a new memorial hall for the Anti-Japanese War in western Yunnan with a collection of more than 100,000 cultural relics. The historical memory of the Chinese Expeditionary Force, such as the Stilwell Highway, the Hump Route, and the Flying Tigers, is the Yunnan-Burma War of Resistance represented by Tengchong. Film and television dramas such as "Yunnan West 1944" and "My Regiment Leader, My Regiment" were filmed in Tengchong to reflect the history of Tengchong's Anti-Japanese War.
