Shi Weijian was born in Huai'an, Jiangsu Province in March 1935. In 1951, he was admitted to the Shanghai People's Art Theater, and in 1956, he was recruited to the Central Experimental Theater. Shi Weijian entered Shanghai Renyi in 1951, and was later recruited to the newly established Central Experimental Theater, and the first play he participated in was the experimental theater's founding play "Sharing Joys and Sorrows", in which he played a correspondent with only one line. Later, he successively played more than 50 different roles on the drama stage, including Hou Chaozong in "Peach Blossom Fan", which caused a sensation, and Florindo in "One Servant and Two Masters".
In 1977, he starred with Li Moran, Deng Shutian, Gu Lan, Pu Ke and others in the anti-special film "Bear Track", in which he played the male lead. In 1980, he played Luo Qun in the movie "The Legend of Tianyun Mountain", which moved countless fans.
