As we all know, in the field of chips, it can be simply divided into three key links: design, manufacturing, and packaging and testing.
Among them, the fields of chip manufacturing and chip packaging and testing are basically monopolized by enterprises in China and the United States.
Taking chip manufacturing as an example, among the top 10 chip foundries in the world, China and the United States account for 9, with a share of more than 93%. However, the United States is not strong in chip manufacturing, and only GF is monopolized, mainly by Chinese companies.
In terms of chip packaging and testing, the same is true, China and the United States monopolize the entire market, among the top 10 companies, 9 are Chinese companies, 1 is an American company, and the share of American manufacturers is about 14%, and the rest are almost all Chinese companies.
Recently, we have found that not only chip manufacturing, chip packaging and testing, but also China and the United States in chip design, monopolize the global market.
As shown in the figure above, this is the revenue ranking of the world's top 10 IC design companies in 2023. It can be seen that the top 10 companies are all Chinese or American companies, and no other country or region can make the list.
The top 10 rankings are Nvidia, Qualcomm, Broadcom, AMD, MediaTek, Marvell, Novatek, Realtek, Weir, and Xinyuan. 6 U.S. companies, ranked 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 10th respectively. Four Chinese companies ranked 5th, 7th, 8th and 9th respectively.
Of course, of these 4 Chinese companies, 4 are enterprises in Taiwan Province and 1 is enterprises in Chinese mainland.
It can be seen that the current global chip market, excluding DRAM and NAND flash memory, that is, China and the United States are in confrontation and competition, if it is NAND and DRAM, South Korea is also eligible to participate, because South Korea's memory chips are the strongest.
This is also the reason why the United States has repeatedly suppressed China's chip industry, because only China is the opponent of the United States, and at the same time, China is currently developing too rapidly, which puts pressure on the United States.
The most important thing is that China is the world's largest chip market, China consumes one-third of the world's chips, and about 70% of the world's chips will be imported into China to manufacture various products, and then sold to the world.
But judging from the current situation, the suppression of the United States is afraid that it will not be effective, because China's chips are constantly making breakthroughs, and the results are getting better and better.
