The 77th World Health Assembly (WHA) will be held on 27 May in Geneva, Switzerland. As the supreme authority of the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Health Assembly is convened annually. The DPP authorities, who have been seeking to participate in the World Health Assembly for seven consecutive years, are ready to make a move this time in a vain attempt to seize the opportunity to seek "independence" and provoke and create trouble.

As in previous years, the familiar plot is playing out again. The DPP authorities and the United States once again cooperated with the "show" to hype up the issue of Taiwan's participation in the World Health Assembly.

On May 1, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken issued a statement "strongly encouraging" the World Health Organization to resume inviting Taiwan to participate in the 77th WHA as an observer. This is the fourth consecutive time since he took office in January 2021 that he has issued such a "public statement", instigating issues and throwing out the hand of "using Taiwan to contain China".

Previously, on April 19, under the leadership of the United States, the Group of Seven (G7) foreign ministers' meeting also issued a joint statement after the meeting, openly interfering in China's internal affairs, involving the situation in the East China Sea, the South China Sea and the Taiwan Strait, and falsely claiming to support Taiwan's "meaningful participation in international organizations", including the World Health Assembly and the World Health Organization, to exert pressure in advance.

The DPP authorities, on the other hand, are grateful to the United States and the West for their support for their "participation in international organizations." Moreover, he regarded this meeting as the first "international event" that Lai Qingde wanted to participate in after his "520" assumed the leadership of the Taiwan authorities, and escalated the "noisy" behavior of his "World Health Action Group." Not only will the new head of the health and welfare department, Qiu Taiyuan, lead him to Geneva to "hold meetings" and "publicize the news," but the three main political parties in the island's legislature will also send representatives with medical backgrounds to form a so-called "inspection group" to go there together, led by Jiang Qichen, deputy head of the legislature, and the level will be the highest in history.

In addition, in order to find an "excuse" and reason to participate in the World Health Assembly, the DPP authorities and some medical circles on the island claimed that the 77th World Health Assembly is expected to adopt the "WHO Pandemic Agreement", and if the Taiwan region cannot "participate in the signing of the agreement", not only will the people's health be threatened, but also the global supply chain may be damaged.

Some people in the green camp on the island are even more steered by the wind and follow the trend of US policy, echoing the need to move closer to the "US Global Health Security Strategy" released by US President Joe Biden on April 16, expand Taiwan's influence on "health security issues" in the Indo-Pacific region, and become an "important partner" of the United States in this region. We have made no secret of our intention to seek "independence" and provoke with the help of relevant issues.

Although the "script" of the United States and Taiwan colluding to promote Taiwan's participation in the World Health Assembly has been revised, it is obviously inadequate, full of loopholes, and is destined to become a clumsy performance that brings humiliation on itself.

As everyone knows, the World Health Organization is a subordinate organ of the United Nations, and only sovereign states can join, and the Taiwan region, as a part of China, has no right to join at all. On the issue of Taiwan's participation in the activities of the World Health Organization, China's position is consistent and clear, that is, it must be handled in accordance with the one-China principle, which is also the fundamental principle affirmed by UN General Assembly resolution 2758 and World Health Assembly resolution 25.1.

From 2009 to 2016, on the basis of the "92 Consensus" that both sides of the strait adhered to the one-China principle, and through cross-strait consultations, it was agreed that the Taiwan region would participate in the World Health Assembly in the name of "Chinese Taipei" and as an observer. This was a special arrangement made under the premise of adhering to the "one-China" principle and against the background of the peaceful development of cross-strait relations at that time.

After 2016, due to the DPP authorities' stubborn adherence to the separatist stance of "Taiwan independence", the political basis for Taiwan's participation in the WHA no longer exists, and this is the root cause of the problem.

In his "public statement", Blinken also specifically mentioned that the Taiwan region had participated in the World Health Assembly as an observer, but deliberately ignored the decisive role of the one-China principle behind it, which is obviously covering up the truth, misleading public opinion, and harboring evil intentions.

On 2 May, a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry expressed strong dissatisfaction and resolute opposition to this, sternly pointing out that the relevant statement of the US side is to confuse the public and in essence condone and support "Taiwan independence" separatist activities. China once again urges the US side to abide by the one-China principle and the three China-US joint communiqués, abide by international law and basic norms governing international relations, implement into action the commitments made by the US leaders not to support "Taiwan independence", "two Chinas" and "one China, one Taiwan", stop using the World Health Assembly to hype up Taiwan-related issues, and refrain from sending wrong signals to "Taiwan independence" separatist forces.

Previously, the mainland side has also pointed out on many occasions that the channels for communication and cooperation in Taiwan's participation in the WHO technical field are fully unimpeded, and the channels for obtaining various epidemic prevention and control information and support are completely effective, and the so-called "gap in the international epidemic prevention system" and the claim that people's health will be threatened by the DPP authorities are completely political lies, deceiving the world and self-defeating.

The DPP authorities know that it is impossible for Taiwan to be invited to participate in the WHA without the mainland's consent, but they still try to break through the border in the name of "Taiwan" for many years in a row, and the same drama is staged every year. It is self-evident that the plan behind this is to rely on the support of the United States and the West and rely on constant collisions in a vain attempt to internationalize the Taiwan issue and expand Taiwan's "international living space," and use this to play the so-called "sad card" and slander the mainland for "suppressing" Taiwan, so as to win the sympathy of the people on the island and divert the people's dissatisfaction with their inability to govern the island in the form of cognitive warfare.

With regard to the DPP authorities' practice of taking the opportunity to hype up and "lose money and make money" every year, public opinion on the island has also pointed out that DPP officials keep saying that joining the WHA is to take care of the health of the Taiwan people, but when the people in Taiwan really need vaccines, the DPP authorities want to block the new crown vaccines that can save their lives! And they are even more heedless of the people's opposition and import Lai pig and nuclear food, are they also fighting for the people's health? People of insight on the island have long pointed out that the DPP authorities have repeatedly been frustrated at the WHA and should regain the "consensus of '92," but the authorities are unwilling to follow this solution and have repeatedly knocked on the threshold to obtain political benefits at the expense of the health and well-being of the Taiwan people.
