On April 19, the Chinese Embassy in Turkey held the "International Chinese Day" and the Embassy Open Day, inviting more than 30 student representatives from 9 Turkish universities to participate. Ambassador Liu Shaobin, Counselor Zhou Meifen and young diplomats from the embassy attended the ceremony.
In his speech, Ambassador Liu Shaobin focused on the core concept of the Global Civilization Initiative. At the event, the two sides exchanged and interacted with each other on the theme of this year's "International Chinese Day" - "Building a Bridge of Mutual Learning between Civilizations", indicating that China and Turkey, as two ancient civilizations, have exchanged ideas and learned from each other on the ancient Silk Road, and made positive contributions to the progress of human civilization. China and Turkey should work together to write a new chapter in exchanges and cooperation among civilizations in the new era.
Everyone also experienced traditional culture such as Chinese calligraphy, Chinese dance, and traditional Chinese costumes. Turkkata students also give themselves Chinese names and taste Chinese food.
The event kicked off the "International Chinese Day" series of activities in Turkey, and in the next two weeks, the series of activities will be held at Okan University, Confucius Institute at Middle East Technical University, Chankaya Cultural Center, Annadolu University, Izmir September 9 University, Nevşehir University, Poplar Creek Middle School, etc.
