Recently, the Qingpu police, together with the District Market Supervision and Administration Bureau, carried out a special investigation and rectification of the commercial banks suspected of illegally modifying and selling electric bicycles that do not meet safety standards in the jurisdiction.
On the evening of April 15, the Economic Investigation Detachment of the Sub-Bureau, together with Huaxin Police Station, Yingpu Police Station and other departments, in the unified action of "Sharpening the Sword 2024", arrested 3 suspects Su and Sun who were suspected of selling fake and shoddy electric bicycles in Huazhi Road, Huaxin Town, and Yinggang Road, Yingpu Street, respectively, and seized 4 modified electric bicycles at the scene.
After investigation, from the end of 2021 to the present, the criminal suspects Su and Sun have leased two storefronts of Huazhi Road and Yinggang Road respectively for the sales, maintenance, licensing and battery modification of a certain brand of battery cars. In order to increase the sales of electric bicycles, in the process of selling electric bicycles, the national standard 48V batteries are illegally modified to 60V and 72V in series, and usually a group of modified 60V lead-acid batteries are sold at about 500 yuan, and the price of the whole vehicle is more than 3,000 yuan after modification.
In order to allow customers to be licensed normally, Su, Sun and others waited for the customer to complete the license and then illegally installed over-standard batteries. In addition, in order to increase the speed of electric bicycles, Su, Sun and others adjusted the speed limit to 45 km/h through crackers. As of the time of the case, the sales volume exceeded 300 vehicles, and the value of the case was more than 100 yuan.
In order to dig deep and thoroughly investigate the source of the illegally modified battery, after working overnight, the Qingpu police dug deep that night and seized two dens selling batteries and five people including the suspect Chen in Huaxin Town and Xiayang Street. After preliminary investigation, Chen et al. began to lease two warehouses at the above address to engage in the sale of batteries in August 2021, and sold them in large quantities knowing that Su, Sun and others purchased batteries for modification of electric bicycles. As of the time of the case, the amount involved was more than 300 yuan, and a total of 950 sets of various batteries were seized at the scene.
At present, 8 criminal suspects, including Su, Sun, and Chen, have been taken criminal compulsory measures by the Qingpu police in accordance with the law on suspicion of selling fake and shoddy products, and the case is being further investigated.
