On April 12th, BMW Motorrad officially presented their teams for the FIM EWC (Endurance World Championship).
The FIW EWC Endurance World Championship has tentatively four races scheduled for the 2024 season:
The first stop, April 18-21, the 24 Hours of Le Mans (also known as Le Mans) in France;
The second stop, June 6-8, the Eight Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium;
Leg 3, July 19-21, Eight Hours of Suzuka, Japan;
The fourth stop, September 11-14, is the 24 Hours of BolD' OR in Bordeaux, France.
The BMW EWC Factory Team of car No. 37 is the main driver of the BMW motorcycle race for the EWC championship, using the M 1000 RR. Last year, the BMW EWC Factory Team finished third overall and took points closer to the championship. For the new 2024 season, the team will continue to use the main driver pairing: Germany's Markus Reiterberger and Ukraine's Ilya Mikhalchik, while new to the team will feature Sylvain Guintoli, a Frenchman with extensive experience in WorldSBK and MotoGP. Estonian driver Hannes Soomer is the team's reserve driver.
Next week's EWC 2024 season opener, the 24 Hours of Leman, will be held concurrently with the ARRC Zhuhai, and it is expected that Retberg will miss the Zhuhai event.
In addition to the EWC class, the BMW camp also includes the Tecmas MRP team in the Superstock class. The team made its debut in last year's race and had a good performance. In addition, two other private teams are also competing in the Superstock class of the 24 Hours of Liman next week using BMW motorcycles' M 1000 RRs.
