Chenggong Avenue is the main north-south traffic fast lane in Xiamen Island, and Lianqian West Road is the main east-west urban arterial road on the island, and the surrounding communities are dense and the flow of people is large, so the intersection of Chenggong Avenue and Lianqian West Road undertakes the important traffic conversion function of the fast lane and the main road of the city.
It is understood that the exit of Lianqian West Road of Wucun Tunnel on Chenggong Avenue is one of the sections with greater traffic pressure in Siming area, especially during the morning and evening rush hours, facing frequent road congestion.
Before remodeling
In order to further improve the traffic efficiency of Chenggong Avenue and alleviate the traffic congestion phenomenon at the node, the Municipal Transportation Office led the traffic highway, traffic police and other departments to implement a precise traffic congestion improvement project on Lianqian West Road (No. 5 Middle School - Chenggong Avenue Section) to meet the travel needs of the masses.
Ms. Lin, who lives in Junyue Mountain Community, said: "I have long heard that the lane will be widened here, and I am really looking forward to it! Today it is finally opened to traffic, this transformation is amazing! I used to have to queue for a long time at this intersection after work, and I can shorten the road time during the rush hour in the future and get home early!"

"In this project, we paid attention to the drainage problem in the tunnel when renovating the lanes in the tunnel. The new right-turn lane adds a longitudinal drainage gutter inside the tunnel near the tunnel exit, and cast-iron rainwater grates. At the same time, deceleration and vibration markings were drawn on the new right-turn lanes, and concrete guardrails were added to the edge of the road and painted with black and yellow paint to improve the safety of vehicle traffic. The relevant staff of the traffic and highway department said.
At the same time, anti-collision guardrails have been added on both sides of the right-turn lane at the exit of the Wucun Tunnel, and potted triangular plum plants have been planted, which also provides a comfortable and beautiful traffic environment for the general public under the condition of ensuring the safety of vehicle traffic. Since the original location of the right-turn lane at the tunnel entrance is a green area, a concrete retaining wall and drainage ditch are set up at the new green boundary to ensure the stability of the green slope.
