New Year's jewelry robbery: P40 million jewelry was stolen, thieves dug tunnels to enter the store
MANILA, PHILIPPINES, Jan. 3, 2024 – On Jan. 1, 2024, just as the New Year was in place, a shocking burglary occurred in a busy shopping mall in the city of Ozamiz.
Three cunning thieves managed to steal jewelry and cash worth up to 40 million pesos from a jewelry store.
According to the preliminary investigation, the elaborate burglary occurred at noon on January 1. The suspects cleverly dug a tunnel in the neighboring food court that led to the jewelry store they had been eyeing for a long time.
Thieves broke glass and roller shutters and barged into the store with impunity, looting the shelves of jewelry. They even brute-force a vault and looted the money.
The greed of this gang of thieves didn't stop there. In addition to the jewelry store, they also took the opportunity to rob the ATM machine in the mall.
At present, the police department of the city of Osanmiz is fully engaged in an investigation. Police are scrutinizing surveillance footage from the mall in hopes of quickly locating the suspect and uncovering the truth behind the robbery.
