The tunnel has to pass under a number of risk sources such as oil pipelines, seawalls, wharves and waterways, with a maximum buried depth of 78 meters on the seabed, and has to undergo 28 changes in soft and hard strata during the crossing process, of which the highest strength of hard rock is nearly 200 megapascals.
The Yongzhou Railway project team has carried out targeted design and optimization of the shield machine equipment model, the shield machine is equipped with special equipment such as advanced geological prediction and advanced reinforcement, and the final assembly has reached the world's leading level, so as to achieve "soft and hard all", and is equipped with the shield guidance system with the highest control accuracy in the world to ensure accurate docking of the seabed. After the two shield machines meet on the seabed, they will use the double-layer shell design to retain the shell for supporting the tunnel, and disassemble it in situ to achieve "golden cicada shelling".

Yongzhou Railway starts from Ningbo East Railway Station in the west to Baiquan Town, Dinghai District in the east, and has 7 stations in Ningbo East, Yunlong, Qiuai, Beilun West, Jintang, Ma'ao and Zhoushan, with a total length of about 77 kilometers and a design speed of 250 kilometers per hour.
After the completion of the project, Zhoushan will realize the "high-speed rail on the island", which is of great significance for building a "one-hour traffic circle" in Zhejiang Province, accelerating the integration process of Ningbo, and promoting the better integration of the two cities into the "Belt and Road" and the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
