At the height of his power, Joseph Stalin ruled over nearly 200 million Soviet citizens and nearly one-sixth of the earth's surface, dominating the life-and-death power of everyone under his rule, including the high-ranking cadres of his time.
Such a "god on earth" overshadowed many of his life — including his second son, Vasily Stalin.

In 1932, at a dinner party celebrating the 15th anniversary of the October Revolution, Vasily's parents lost their minds, Stalin, who had drunk too much, yelled at his wife and scolded her with foul language, and Aliluyeva left in anger. A few hours later, Aliluyeva was found shot and killed at the age of 30.
