Why are so many people not optimistic about Xiaomi's car-building? Let's start with the conclusion: I don't want or be optimistic about Xiaomi's method of building a mobile phone!
The development of the automobile industry has been more than 100 years, and the development and progress of traditional fuel vehicles have also led to the rise and fall of major automobile manufacturing countries. Throughout history, any former or current automobile production power has its own distinctive technical characteristics or genes, without exception. For example, American cars, with high power, large space and high fuel consumption, German cars, sophisticated, advanced, restrained and luxurious, French cars, with solid chassis and ingenuity, Japanese cars, cost-saving, fuel-efficient, fashionable and comfortable, and so on. These images may not be accurate and correct, but they have more or less become symbols, and they can be regarded as an overall image.
In fact, these appearances also cover up a fact, a core industrial fact: all automobile manufacturing powerhouses are stronger than the three major parts of traditional fuel vehicles: chassis, engine and gearbox. All world-class brands have their own unique skills in the three major pieces, which are enough to stand up and compete. No brand can be built by saving, nor can a brand be made by saving! Bosch has worked hard for decades to dominate some parts of the market, and it does not dare to go down to build cars! Imagine that your favorite Toyota is equipped with Ford's engine, Citroen's chassis, and Volkswagen's gearbox, will you still buy it? Will you still buy Toyota?
This is true for fuel vehicles, and the same is true for new energy vehicles now. The three new parts: battery, motor and electronic control, say good about supply chain technology, say bad things about other people. Mobile phones can, after all, they can be replaced after a few years. What about the car? I think Xuan!
Huawei entered the new energy vehicle because it has conducted in-depth research on the three electric vehicles, and used its own technology to deeply customize packaging batteries, advanced motors developed by itself, and electronic controls that have been widely used by car manufacturers. Even so, Huawei does not dare to easily build a car in person! Maybe Huawei is not aiming for this, or maybe Huawei's goal is only the software, hardware, and intelligent standards behind the three electric vehicles. But Xiaomi, what do you rely on? Do you really want to save cars in the supply chain?
If you save a car as a mobile phone, you either overestimate your own strength or underestimate the difficulty of building a car. If not, then you want to redefine the automobile?
I really hope that Xiaomi can have its own core technology! Cars can be built, but don't save!
