The Pistons sniffed the 2023 dumplings and led the league by 21 points
The worst team in NBA history almost overturned the current No. 1 team in the league, the Pistons once led the Celtics by as many as 21 points, and finally lost 119-125 through an overtime, losing 28 in a row!
The Pistons played their best game of the season, and the Celtics played at home, and although they defended their 15-0 record at home after the game, the applause was for the Pistons, and they began to realize the shame and tried their best to redeem themselves for the worst losing streak in history.
Failed, of course!
The 28-game losing streak is the longest losing streak in NBA history, which was previously completed by the 76ers from the 2014-15 season to the 2015-16 season, and the longest losing streak of 26 consecutive losses in a single season has been broken by the Pistons last time!
The Celtics suffered a "what the hell are they doing" moment in the second quarter, during which they had an astonishing turnover rate, and their 3-point delay could not open the situation, after shooting 1 of 9 in the first quarter of the game, it became 4 of 20 shots in the second quarter, and the Pistons went on a 10-0 offensive run to stretch the score to 50-37 and lead by 13 points.
With Jaylen Brown out with a back injury, the Pistons played rhythmic, spacey in the first half and hit some three-pointers in key moments. They also capitalized on the Celtics' turnovers and cold shots from the league's best teams to build a season-high 21-point lead in the second quarter.
However, in the first eight minutes of the third quarter, the Pistons' lead was gone. Porzingis bullied the Pistons with his height advantage in the low post and hit an open 3-pointer defended by the Pistons' interior players. He finished with 35 points and eight rebounds.
But the Pistons showed tenacious fighting spirit, and they didn't give up! Can you believe it? They even led 100-96 with 4:41 left in the fourth quarter, and "eating dumplings" was close at hand!
But then the Celtics clearly let Boshen bully Ivey, Boshen hit a low post and completed 2+1, and Burks's missed three-pointer turned into Boshen's easy mid-range shot. The Pistons missed all the next shots, including two 3-pointers from Burks, a 3-pointer from Bogdanovic, a block from Cunningham's shot and a mid-range shot from Bogdanovic's baseline.
The Celtics' Tatum and Boshen made another layup and a 3-pointer respectively, and in the final 2 minutes, the Pistons trailed by 6 points. Tatum also had 31 points, seven rebounds, 10 assists and five steals.
But the Pistons haven't given up yet! It's really a quick loss, and things will be reversed!
Ivey scored six straight points to tie the score at 106, and the Celtics handed the ball to Jayson Tatum with nine seconds left in the game. Tatum was one-on-one with Cunningham, who defended closely. Tatum tried to shake Cunningham away, but his shot was blocked by Cunningham, but the referee ruled that the ball interfered with the ball, saying that the ball touched the rebound first. The Pistons challenge, after a lengthy replay review, failed the challenge with 8.1 seconds left in the game.
The referee didn't give it a try! The Pistons did it themselves, Bogdanovic grabbed the offensive rebound and hit a shot, 108 draws, Tatum missed the last shot, overtime!
Overtime was almost entirely a Celtic show.
Ivey scored five more points in overtime, but eventually walked off the court with a full foul. The Pistons' defense was powerless for any offensive opportunity for the Celtics. Boshen's open shot, or someone else forcing a break to the basket to score.
Cunningham was clearly exhausted and lost in overtime. Unfortunately, the Pistons needed Cunningham to perform magic again in an overtime to reclaim the win and end the never-ending losing streak. He couldn't do it anymore. In the end, he chipped in 31 points, six rebounds, nine assists, three steals and two blocks.
The Pistons lost 28 in a row! Next, they will play at home against the Raptors on the night of December 31 local time in the United States, and if they lose again, 29 consecutive losses, all the longest losing streaks in NBA history (single season or cross-season) will be exclusive to them!
Dumplings in 2023, I don't know if the piston can still be eaten!
