The Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar in the sixth century BC was a master architect who built the beautiful new city of Babylon, with its fabled Hanging Gardens and the majestic Tower of Babel.

The blue Ishtar Gate, one of the eight gates of the inner city of Babylon, is the ceremonial gate to enter the city of Babylon and to the royal palace and temple, dedicated to Ishtar, the radiant goddess of war and queen of the universe, the gate is 14 meters high and 30 meters wide, built of glazed blue bricks, and decorated with relief motifs such as dragons, lions and bulls.

In 568 B.C., the Persians destroyed the city of Neo-Babylon, and after thousands of years of wind and rain, the walls of the ancient city have collapsed, and only this gate remains, leaving behind the foundation and scattered bricks.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the Germans excavated fragments of the city gates during archaeological work in Iraq, as well as a 250-meter-long parade avenue, of which 180 meters were lined with glazed brick paintings, in the same style and tone as the Ishtar Gate, except that the animals were replaced with the image of a lion.

The Germans brought the fragments of the city gate back to Germany, restored and rebuilt the Ishtar gate, and now the 15-meter-high Ishtar gate stands in the Pergamon Museum, which is one of the treasures of the Pergamon Museum, there are many good things in the Pergamon Museum, and there is a super famous Pergamon Altar (Figure 9) is also the treasure of the town hall, from ancient Greece in the second century BC.
