These are just some of the most famous cases, and there are many more similar incidents. One of the reasons these leaders are listed by the United States as destabilizing targets is that they pursue policies that are contrary to American corporate and economic interests, and Washington seeks to control their natural resources. Most of these leaders are socialists or just nationalists, and their greatest alleged crime is to refuse to subordinate their country and national interests to Washington's geopolitical and economic interests.
Just past year, another democratically elected leader was overthrown in a U.S.-backed coup. That leader is Pakistan's democratically elected prime minister, Imran Khan, who was removed from office in a political coup in April 2022 that the U.S. government backed to punish Khan for refusing to join the U.S. proxy war in Ukraine.
Imran Khan is a Pakistani politician and former cricketer who served as Pakistan's 22nd prime minister from 2018 to 2022. He is also the founder and chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party. He became a national hero when he led the Pakistan cricket team to the World Cup in 1992. He later entered politics and became a critic of corruption in the Pakistani government.
Imran Khan
Imran Khan made a public speech in which the U.S. government tried to overthrow his elected government, calling the U.S. a kind of imperial slave owner who treated the countries of the Global South as if they were slaves. After his overthrow, Imran Khan referred to the unelected coup regime as an "import government" and the new government was rigged and arranged by the United States, not chosen by the Pakistani people through elections, so he used the term "import government" to mock and belittle it. Khan claimed that the United States had told him that if his government did not take Washington's position, it would face real problems in the future, which was clearly a mafia-style threat.
Outlet The Intercept, a mainstream U.S. media outlet, published a leaked document proving that the U.S. State Department pressured Imran Khan and ultimately supported the coup, removing him from office for his refusal to join the U.S. proxy war in Ukraine.

The Intercept published another article with more conclusive evidence that after Imran Khan was ousted in a US-backed coup, the new non-elective coup regime reached an agreement with the US to supply Ukraine with military equipment to help Ukraine in this NATO proxy war against Russia! In return, the United States pressured the International Monetary Fund to lend large sums of money to bail out Pakistan's bankrupt economy.
The IMF is entirely a political tool of the United States, and although it claims to be a multilateral institution, it is in fact a puppet of Washington. What's more, the IMF has used these loans to finance the West's proxy war in places like Ukraine, and the IMF has also provided loans to the Ukrainian regime to support its confrontation with Russia. This is a classic example of how IMF loans only fuel corruption, and the current government of Pakistan was illegally seized from power by a group of notorious corrupt individuals who are under investigation on suspicion of corruption and money laundering.
