After Imran Khan was assassinated, why did the current Prime Minister Shahbaz dare to express his position and resign when there was evidence

#Headline Creation Challenge#Shabaz Sharif soon after taking office, he encountered a tricky thing, that is, Imran Khan was shot.

Imran Khan was the former prime minister who was forced to step down after Pakistan's National Assembly voted no confidence in him, while Shahbaz was elected as the new prime minister.

However, because Imran Khan made a lot of achievements in fighting corruption and forging reforms during his tenure, the public's support for him remains high. In addition, the Justice Movement Party he founded is still powerful, so Shabaz is not only unstable, but also under great pressure to govern.

On November 3, 2022, Imran Khan, who was speaking in a van caravan, was suddenly attacked by gunmen at a rally in the city of Voztibad, Punjab province. Fortunately, due to the shelter in front of him, the bullet did not hit the critical part, but his leg still lost a lot of blood from the gunshot wound.

The assassination caused an uproar, and Pakistani President Arif Alvi immediately wrote: "This is a heinous assassination attempt. The newly appointed Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz followed suit to "condemn' the assassination in the strongest terms and pray for Imran Khan and the other wounded."

However, Imran Khan's Justice Movement party believes that Shahbaz is a "cat crying child with false mercy" and suspects that he is likely to be behind the shooting. In fact, not only members of the Justice Movement Party think so, but also many ordinary people believe that Shabaz is the biggest suspect in the "shooting of Imran Khan".

Indeed, before Imran Khan, Pakistani power had long been in the hands of Shahbaaz's Sharif family.

The Sharif family made its fortune during the partition of India and Pakistan, when Sharif Sharif Sr. founded Itfak Industries, which ventured into the steel, sugar and textile industries. As the business empire expanded, his family became a wealthy family in Punjab.

However, the elder Sharif knew that in the face of the regime, wealth was not worth mentioning at all, and if he wanted the family to be prosperous for a long time, he must combine power and money.

Sharif Sharif Sr. was right at all, because soon after, after the powerful Ali Bhutto became Pakistan's prime minister, he easily "confiscated" the Itfak industrial group founded by Sharif Sr. through the policy of "state-owned economic reform".

Undoubtedly, in the face of power, no matter how rich you are, you will become leeks. Seeing that the industry he has worked hard for has since been surnamed "public" instead of "private", old Sharif's heart is naturally mixed. But old Sharif is old after all, so the heavy responsibility of the Guangyao family falls on the shoulders of the eldest son Sharif.

Sharif was well educated, and after earning a bachelor's degree in law, he became his father's right-hand man, helping him run the steel mill. Because he managed well, kept the steel mill in order, and greatly improved the efficiency of the steel mill, Sharif became a famous industrialist at a young age.

However, Sharif was determined to enter politics, and with his rich assets, he soon formed an alliance with Pakistani Army General Zia-ul-Haq.

Zia was originally a close associate of the elder Bhutto, and after uniting with Sharif, he staged a coup d'état, overthrew the elder Bhutto, took over power, and established a military junta. With Zia's promotion and rich financial resources, Sharif also became Punjab's finance minister and sports minister, and began his career path.

Relying on the authority of the junta, Sharif rose through the ranks and soon became governor of Punjab and minister of the local council. By 1990, Sharif had finally gotten his wish and became prime minister.

After Sharif came to power, he carried out economic reform, developed a privatized economy, and took back the property that originally belonged to the family. However, his actions caused public dissatisfaction, and under pressure from the military, he had to resign as prime minister. Later, Sharif ascended to the high position of prime minister for the second time.

It was then that Sharif realized that if you want to secure power, you can't go it alone. So he appointed his younger brother Shahbaz to the post of governor of Punjab, while other important positions were held by his cronies.

As the power grew stronger, Sharif gradually became reluctant to compromise the domineering military. Even he was ready to attack Army Chief of Staff Pervez Musharraf and strip him of military powers. Unfortunately, he couldn't eat hot tofu in a hurry, and he was just getting started, and Musharraf had already united his army in a coup d'état, overthrew Sharif, and established a military junta.

Fortunately, his younger brother Shahbaz is a very intelligent man, and although he is politically implicated by Sharif, he has always maintained good relations with the military government. In addition, he is a doer, and he has done a lot of things in Punjab. So he served as governor of Punjab for a long time.

After Musharraf was overthrown, Sharif, who had been living abroad, returned to run for election and served as prime minister for a third time. Unfortunately, it didn't take long for him to break out of a corruption scandal and have to resign as prime minister. Pakistan's Supreme People's Court also ruled that Sharif would not participate in public office for life, which completely blocked all paths for Sharif to continue to govern.

In this way, the heavy responsibility of glorifying the Sharif family fell on Shahbaaz's shoulders.

When Shahbaz was governor of Punjab, he accumulated a wealth of political ability and experience, and he also did a lot of practical things for the people.

Punjab was originally Pakistan's most populous province. After taking office, Shabazz vigorously promoted the construction of infrastructure projects and modern public transportation systems. In particular, the establishment of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor in cooperation with Chinese enterprises has led to rapid economic development and great improvements in people's lives. And Shabazz also made a good impression of being pragmatic and diligent.

Since Sharif never had a chance to make a comeback in politics, the political resources Sharif had accumulated were transferred to Shahbaz, including the top leaders of the Muslim League. Shahbaz is more politically flexible than Sharif, though. For example, his brother was overthrown by the military, but he has repeatedly expressed his willingness to cooperate with the military, and his statement has also eased the relationship between the military and the Sharif family.

Imran Khan was originally elected prime minister, on the one hand, because the Sharif family and the Bhutto family took turns to sit in power for a long time, causing popular dissatisfaction, and Imran Khan became their hope. At the same time, Imran Khan also won the support of the military, so he was able to shake the two major political gates and become prime minister.

However, after Imran Khan took office, although he tried to change Pakistan's predicament, his bold reforms inevitably harmed the interests of other parties and the military. In addition, Imran Khan took over a mess, and the epidemic led to a recession and high unemployment. So the people's grievances are deep, and the military is not satisfied with him.

It was under such circumstances that Shahbaz repeatedly said that he was willing to cooperate with the military. The military, of course, could not ask for it. And the party that had been allied with Imran Khan also fell to the ground and betrayed Imran Khan. Eventually, under their impeachment, Khan became the first prime minister in Pakistan's history to be removed by impeachment.

After Shahbaz became prime minister, the people still supported Imran Khan, and even riots broke out in many places. Coupled with the fact that members of the Justice Movement Party led by Imran Khan also resigned en masse in protest after he stepped down, Shahbaz was very troubled. After all, if he does not win popular support from the beginning, his position as prime minister will not last long.

In order to bring down Imran Khan, Shahbaz and the new government also made great efforts. Unfortunately, Imran Khan was indeed very clean and could not catch his pigtails, and in the end the new government could only ban him from holding public office and disqualify him from participating in elections for the next 5 years on the charge of "illegal sale of state gifts".

The new government's approach caused popular discontent, so more people sided with Imran Khan. Seeing that the situation is going in a bad direction, Shahbazz's pressure to govern is also increasing. In order to lower public opinion and divert domestic attention, Shahbaz publicly stated at a press conference on October 6, 2022, that "Imran Khan is the biggest liar on earth." He also harshly criticized Imran Khan for causing great damage to Pakistan's domestic and international affairs during his four-year rule. Even if they step down, they are still "injecting endless poison into society" and "dividing the electorate in the most dangerous way."

Shortly after Shahbaz harshly criticized Imran Khan, Khan was shot.

Pakistani police were quick to release the outcome of the interrogation. According to the gunman's confession, he was not instructed by anyone, and he shot at the scene because the rally music was too loud.

But the more the gunman spoke so nonsensically, the more suspicion Shahbaz became.

In order to get rid of the involvement, Sharitz had to hold another news conference, at which he announced that he would resign immediately if there was any evidence of involvement in the shooting that had occurred to Imran Khan.

People say that Chariz made this statement because he did make things clean and left no handles. It seems that whether there is a problem with Shabazz or not, it can only be "justified by the public and justified by the mother-in-law".
