In a hot pot shop in Shunjiang North Street, Xiangyang Town, Guanghan City, the author found a stone stele from the thirty-second year of Qing Guangxu, which resembles an ordinary tombstone, but is taller than it, and the stele is engraved with the inscription "Tomb of Chen Changhou Ma Gong Dai, General of Hanping North".
Who is MaDai? During the Three Kingdoms period, the Shu Han general, the brother of the famous general Ma Chao, in 211 AD, Ma Chao's brothers were defeated by Cao Cao, in 213 they defected to Zhang Lu, in 214 they returned to Liu Bei with Ma Chao, and after Zhuge Liang's death in 234, Ma Dai was ordered by Yang Yi to behead Wei Yan. In 235, Ma Dai led an army on the Northern Expedition, but was repelled by the Wei general Niu Jin, and since then, there is no record of Ma Dai in the historical records.
The Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms once recorded that Dai was the general of Pingbei and the Marquis of Chencang, which coincided with the inscription on the stone tablet. According to relevant information, the site of Ma Dai's tomb is located at the junction of Juntun Town and Mimu Town in Xindu County, Sichuan Province, and there are stone tablets on the altar in front of the tomb, and the tomb chamber is built on the hillside, and the sealing soil is about 3 meters high. In the 1950s, lace bricks were found under the sealed soil, and the words "Tomb of Ma Dai" were written on the bricks.
After asking the hot pot shop staff, I learned that the house behind the stone monument was once the local cultural center, and there was a road called MaDai Road not far from the hot pot shop.
