In 2018 in Jakarta, Indonesia, esports entered the Asian Games as a performance sport. This is the first time that e-sports has entered the Asian Games family as an official event.

A total of 15 teams participated in the Hangzhou Asian Games King Glory Asian Games version of the event, and the Chinese team directly entered the knockout stage as the seeded team.

It is worth mentioning that Jiang Tao, a player in the auxiliary position in the King of Glory national team, is from the Guangzhou TTG team. In September this year, Guangzhou TTG won the overall championship of the King of Glory Professional League (KPL) Summer Tournament, winning the first championship in the team's history, but also taking home the first KPL championship trophy for Guangzhou, refreshing the history of local e-sports achievements. Jiang Tao was selected for the national team of this project because of his outstanding performance.

This year's Hangzhou Asian Games e-sports events have a total of 7 sub-events, namely League of Legends, King of Glory Asian Games Edition, Peace Elite Asian Games Edition, Dota 2, Dream Three Kingdoms 2, Street Fighter 5 and Football Online 4.
