Breitling was founded in 1884 as a Swiss watchmaker. The modern chronograph was invented and the navigation tool watch was pioneered.
In 1962, Breitling introduced the Cosmonaute astronaut watch. Wearing an aviation chronograph watch tailored to his mission, Major Scott Carpenter flew around the Earth three times in the Aurora VII capsule, officially earning Breitling the nickname "the first Swiss watch in space".
Breitling and Aviation are also known to watch fans as the "Captain's Watch". Captain Liu Chuanjian, the Chinese flying hero who completed the preparation, wore a Breitling watch, and Zhang Hanyu also wore a Breitling watch when he played the character based on Liu Chuanjian in "Captain China".
