Recently, the official website of the AFC conducted an exclusive interview with Vietnam coach Trusier.
Trucier, the first coach to lead Japan to the knockout World Cup, says he has enough skills to lead Vietnam to success and that he aims to reach the 2026 World Cup finals. Trusier mentioned some of his accomplishments in an interview. In addition to leading Japan to the 2002 World Cup knockout rounds, he also led the Japanese youth team to the 1999 U20 World Cup finals and the quarterfinals of the 2000 Olympic Games. Talking about next year's Asian Cup group stage, Vietnam and Japan are in the same group, Trusier said this is his first time facing Japan. He believes that the current Japanese team is completely different from the team he led back then.
Trusier admitted that on paper, there is a huge gap between Vietnam and Japan
The Japanese team has a lot of players who play in Europe and they are more experienced. Vietnamese players are inferior to Japan in terms of individual skills, but Trusier said he would try to make the team more united. Trussier had a very good start with Vietnam, but said he still had a lot of work to do. He needs to fully convey his football philosophy to the players, which takes time. In addition to the Asian Cup, Trusier has two important tasks. One is to lead the Vietnamese Olympic team to participate in the U23 Asian Cup, and the other is to lead the Vietnamese team to participate in the World Preliminary Round. Trucier said his goal is to lead his team to the 2026 World Cup. The expansion of the Asian region has eight places, which gives them more hope and hope.

Trusier admits that the goal will be difficult to achieve, but he says they must challenge and break out of Asia. They still have time to prepare.
