author:Nine factions view the world

Sioux City ushered in the last frost of autumn. Recently, in the various communities of Canglang Street in Gusu District, old Suzhou and children made sugar lotus and drew autumn pictures, adding a unique sense of ceremony to this autumn in their own ways.

In the morning, in the Tongjing No. 2 Community Activity Room, more than 30 residents sat together and recalled their childhood autumn memories. "Since I can remember, every time the frost falls, the family will make sugar lotus to eat, soft and sticky sweet, it is the happiest moment of the year!" Resident Huang Ruixia is an authentic old Suzhou, she introduced that every autumn is the best day for lotus roots, but also the best time for osmanthus to bloom, old Suzhou must take advantage of this season to eat a bite of osmanthus sugar lotus. While chatting about their homely routines, the residents began to make osmanthus sugar lotus. Wash and peel the lotus root, cut it according to the knots, and cut off the top about 2 cm as a lid; wash the glutinous rice soaked in advance, drain it, pour it into the hole of the lotus root, and gently tap... After nearly an hour of preparation, the sweet aroma wafted out of the activity room, and the cooked sugar root was sliced, poured with juice, and sprinkled with some dried osmanthus flowers. "As the saying goes: winter supplement is not as good as frost, soft glutinous sweet osmanthus sugar root and frost drop is simply a perfect match!" Wang Jianming of Tongjing New Village couldn't help but sigh while tasting it.

In addition to eating traditional autumn food, in the Ximei community, more than 20 children used paintbrushes to paint the autumn scenery in their hearts, making a long picture. At the event site, volunteers and children first began to interact on the lawn, carrying out "What's in autumn?" "You ask me to answer the solitaire game." There are sugar fried chestnuts! "There's ginkgo biloba!" The children answered sentence by sentence, and used their brushes to paint the iconic scenery of autumn on a long blank scroll. Wang Ziqian's children took the colored pen to draw chestnuts, maple leaves, osmanthus flowers, ginkgo biloba, corn, persimmons, etc., and other children also added geese, sparrows and other animals to the picture, and a colorful autumn map was completed.
