An exhibition of teachers' and students' works reminds the world of the ups and downs of Huxiang in modern times.
On the morning of June 11, the opening ceremony of the special exhibition of calligraphy and painting "Wang Men Art Affair - Wang Minyun and His Disciples" and the donation ceremony of Yang Du's calligraphy vertical axis were held at the Hunan Provincial Museum, where more than 100 works (sets) of Wang Minyun and his disciples were exhibited.
Wang Minyun can be described as a generation of famous scholars, Xiangchu Daru, who traveled all over the world all over his life, preached and taught, and his protégés were all over the world, and he was known as Taidou in the world. Among his students, especially the famous disciples Yang Du, Yang Zhuang, Yang Jun, Xia Shoutian, Qi Baishi, Eight Finger Touto, Song Yuren, Yang Rui, Liao Ping, Hu Yuanyi, Yi Shunding, Liu Yiyi, Ma Zonghuo and other outstanding achievements. Qi Baishi once inscribed a poem to thank The Teacher: "Remembering the old and meeting the old people, Ah Wu will no longer dream of the King's Gate." After his death, many of Wang Men's disciples have been on the grand stage of Modern and Contemporary Chinese history. The emergence of talents in Huxiang in modern times and the revival of Bashu scholarship are inseparable from Wang Minyun's meticulous cultivation of a large number of talents.
The Hunan Provincial Museum has a rich collection of works such as letters, calligraphy and paintings of local celebrities in Huxiang since the Ming and Qing dynasties. This time, the museum specially selected more than 100 pieces (sets) as exhibits from the relevant works of Wang Minyun and his disciples, including calligraphy and paintings, seals, diaries, manuscripts, letters, etc. Most of these inkblots are exhibited for the first time, which is extremely precious, not only has important literary and historical value, but also has the aesthetic value of literati art, which is nothing less than a feast of academic exchange and art appreciation. Chen Xuliang, deputy secretary of the party committee and deputy director of the Hunan Provincial Museum, said that from the special exhibition of "Wang Men Art", the audience can glimpse the work of Wang Minyun and his disciples who take the world as their own responsibility and apply it to the world, sort out the unique cultural inheritance system of Huxiang in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, and then promote the study of Huxiang culture by scholars and art circles.
It is worth mentioning that at the opening ceremony of the exhibition held on the same day, Yang Youqi, the grandson of Yang Du, donated Yang Du's works to the Hunan Provincial Museum, and Duan Xiaoming, secretary of the Party Committee and director of the Hunan Provincial Museum, issued a certificate of collection of the Hunan Provincial Museum to Yang Youqi. The donation of two vertical scrolls of Yang Du's handwritten Buddhist scriptures will also be exhibited in the exhibition.
The exhibition will be held in the Special Hall of Calligraphy and Painting on the third floor of the Hunan Provincial Museum, and will be exhibited free of charge until June 11, 2022.
