It is understood that the 9th China Peking Opera Arts Festival, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Beijing Municipal People's Government, organized by the Art Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, will be held in Beijing from September 20 to October 15, 2021. During the period, an exhibition of outstanding Peking Opera plays will be held, and the participating plays will be mainly based on modern plays newly created in recent years, newly written historical dramas, and excellent traditional plays with distinctive characteristics of the times that have been majorly sorted out and adapted.
Peking Opera "Qin Liangyu" is one of the masterpieces of the Peking Opera Shangpai, which was almost lost, studied and adapted by the Chongqing Peking Opera House, and once again put on the stage to bloom. "As the third generation of the Shang Sect, I am very honored to be able to bring this play into Beijing." Zhou Li said.
Zhou Li introduced that in the 1920s, the famous Peking Opera performance artist Shang Xiaoyun took the deeds of Qin Liangyu, a hero of Chongqing at the end of the Ming Dynasty, as a model for the performance of "Qin Liangyu", "For decades, for various reasons, the play was almost lost, with the support of the People's Government of Shizhu County, we at the Chongqing Peking Opera House invited the predecessors of the Shanghai Peking Opera House and the Shanghai Kun Theater to revise and polish on the basis of the old books handed down, and invited Mr. Shang Changrong, the son of Mr. Shang Xiaoyun, as an artistic consultant, and finally let "Qin Liangyu" be on the stage. The drama mainly revolves around the matter of "Qin Liangyu quelling rebellion and luxury Chongming", telling the story of the late Ming Dynasty when the government was in decline and the people were not happy, after the Jin Dynasty trampled on the Central Plains, the heroine of the stone pillar and the female toastmaster Qin Liangyu resolutely chose to take the post of leader of the husband to conquer the west and the west under the condition of her husband's unjust death and young son, three times to serve the king, several times to suppress the rebellion, and to fight for the country for more than 40 years.
"At the end of 2019, "Qin Liangyu" premiered in Chongqing, after expert review, it was selected as a key creative repertoire of the National Stage Art Creation Support Project and a project funded by the China Peking Opera Art Foundation; after a year of revision and polishing, on November 30, 2020, we re-performed, invited Zhong Chengxiang and other famous critics to review, the overall presentation of the second draft was affirmed, and experts generally believed that this play basically stood up, so we declared this year's Peking Opera Art Festival."
In Zhou Li's view, "Qin Liangyu" has at least two major points of view.
"First, it is extremely rich in genre characteristics, showing the Shangpai art of 'paying equal attention to culture and martial arts, singing and dancing, fresh and heroic, and being free and generous' to the fullest, inheriting the Shangpai singing and playing, being able to write and fight, and combining Xipi Erhuang, Dao Ma Dan, Kun Cavity, etc., both respecting tradition and breakthroughs, the stage is not a large-scale production set, everything is mainly completed through the performance of the actors, highlighting the three major characteristics of Peking Opera artistic freehand.
Second, the heroine of this play, Qin Liangyu, is different from the legendary heroines such as Mulan, and is the only ancient female general who has entered the correct history, focusing on portraying her great love for the world, the national righteousness, and the loyalty and love of the people at a time when the great enemy is in the present and internal and external difficulties, taking into account the overall situation, eliminating all grievances, breaking the family for the country, going to the country for the sake of the country, going to the country in several difficulties, and not treasoning to death.
