"Liezi": The heavier a person's desire, the more panicked his life is one, two,

The heavier a person's inner desires, the more flustered his life is, and when he sees only desire and material things in his eyes, it is difficult to correctly judge the environment and what he should do at the moment.

There is a sentence in the Liezi:

He who wears the tile is complete, whoever wears the gold, and who sends the jade. If it is the one who is heavy on the outside, then dig for it inside.

The meaning of this sentence is that the pace of betting with tiles is slow, the people who bet with gold run fast, and the people who bet with jade look uneasy. Therefore, if the things that are valued are on the external objects such as gold and jade, then the heart will naturally be clumsy.

This truth in "Liezi" is the same as the truth in "Zhuangzi" that "those who have deep lust are shallow", the more intense and complicated a person's desire is, then his inner talent and spiritual opportunity must be shallow, and the inner state at this time is also vague and clumsy.

It is as if in life, when a person is overwhelmed by desire, he can no longer distinguish between what is called reason and emotion, in this case, it is difficult for a person to talk about living better.

Because for human nature, all the consequences of judging the result and making decisions with emotions are wrong, and only when the intellect soberly sees what you should see, this is true wisdom.

"Liezi": The heavier a person's desire, the more panicked his life is one, two,

The Buddhist family has such a story, which has always been talked about:

One person asked a Zen master, "What is the difference between before and after your practice?" ”

The Zen master replied, "After I practice, I eat when I feel hungry, and I sleep when I feel tired, and this is what makes me different." ”

This sentence made this person very surprised, because he felt that this state was no different from ordinary people.

The Zen master said to him, "Of course, there is a difference between this, some people also think about other things when they eat and don't concentrate on eating, when they sleep, they always think about other things, even nightmares, sleep is unstable, and after practicing, eating is eating, not thinking about anything, sleeping is sleeping, so sleeping peacefully, this is the difference." ”

In this world, it is difficult for many people to use it single-mindedly, because the desire for distractions has devoured their rational and sober soul, occupied the angle of correct thinking about problems, always calculated the gains and losses, always pursued the glitz that exists in their subjective consciousness, and produced a thousand delusions and all kinds of sins.

Under the leadership of greed, anger, delusion, and doubt, there are infinite distractions and fantasies in their hearts, but in this fantasy, there is nothing beneficial to life, and finally they lose their ordinary hearts, lose themselves, and confusion and pain are born.

"Liezi": The heavier a person's desire, the more panicked his life is one, two,

There is a saying that goes well: wrong diligence is worse than not working hard.

People are not afraid of doing nothing, afraid of blind impulse, especially when many people are young, the mistake they are prone to make is impatience, do not consider their own conditions, and the current objective environment, always in the desire to pursue a life that does not belong to themselves.

The more anxious a person is, the more mistakes he makes, and the correct state is to soberly examine the conditions of self and rational analysis before making a decision, or to be patient and precipitate himself.

Both of these have a core premise, that is, to keep themselves in inner peace and tranquility, and only by maintaining inner peace can we avoid the problem of external behavior.

Therefore, to empty the mind, maintain peace, face the most ordinary life with a peaceful state, and feel the space of the present with your heart, so as to understand the true meaning of life and make relatively correct decisions and attitudes.

Whether it is the Buddhist concepts of "seeing all things as they are, that is, seeing as they are", or the state of "being able to be like a baby" mentioned in the Tao Te Ching, as well as the concepts of "sitting and forgetting", "heart fasting", "picking up tranquility", and "staying like a wooden chicken" in Zhuangzi, they are all interpreting this state, that is, to clear one's inner distractions and interferences, and to maintain the inner state of tranquility.

Let's take "Dumb Wood Chicken" as an example:

Ji Yuzi raised fighting cocks for King Xuan of Zhou, and ten days later, King Xuan of Zhou asked him, "Is the chicken training good?" ”

Ji Xiangzi said, "Not yet, this chicken looks arrogant and arrogant, with empty eyes, but there is no bottom on the inside." ”

After ten days, the answer was still no, saying that this chicken heard other chickens calling, and there would still be reactions when it saw the shadows of other chickens.

After another ten days, the answer said that it was still not OK, and the chicken still had a fierce look in his eyes and was angry.

After another ten days, the answer was almost over, although the chicken was chirping from time to time, but there was no aggressive expression, it looked like it was made of wood, its morality was complete, and the other chickens did not dare to enter when they saw this chicken, and turned around and ran.

"Liezi": The heavier a person's desire, the more panicked his life is one, two,

"Dumb as a wooden chicken" has now evolved into a pejorative term, but in Zhuangzi's thought, it is a typical representative of the perfection of virtue after obtaining the "Tao", and this is also the realm of getting rid of the confusion of the heart and facing the world with an indifferent and ordinary mind.

Just like the wisdom of great wisdom and foolishness, everything can stand in a calm and rational state to think about problems, rather than a series of distractions such as emotions and desires, leading themselves to chase things that deviate from objective conditions, so as to avoid mistakes.

Seemingly ignorant and unconscious, in fact, with a posture of great wisdom and foolishness, following objective rules, it also allows us to find a correct attitude and direction.
