introduction

Perhaps only elderly people know which three people "Wang Guanqi" refers to, in the sixties of the last century, these three talents who became famous with the "Red Flag" magazine are: Wang Li, Guan Feng, Qi Benyu.

It is quite appropriate to use the allusion of "Jiao does not leave Meng, Meng does not leave focus" to describe the relationship between the three, although these three talents belong to the "Red Flag" magazine, but they are in charge of different fields, and they are also the three flags in the magazine.

In August 1967, Wang Li and Guan Feng's career also came to an end, and in January of the following year, Qi Benyu could not survive alone, and the three were sent to Qincheng Prison.

In this article, I will talk to you about the life of these three Xiucai after they were released from prison and returned to the life of ordinary readers.

Wang Li, Guan Feng, and Qi Benyu's lives after they were released from prison were the same three show talents, and their later years were different

In his later years, Wang Li struggled with cancer

Among the three, although Wang Li has relatively deep qualifications and a higher status than the other two, his age is not as old as Guan Feng, two years younger than Guan Feng, but a full ten years older than Qi Benyu.

The name "Wang Li" is not his real name, it is a pen name he gave himself in 1943 while working in Shandong, and his real name is called "Wang Guangbin". Perhaps, even he could not have predicted that the pseudonym "Wang Li" had become his symbol and synonym, so that he didn't know who it was when he mentioned "Wang Guangbin".

In January 1968, when Wang Li was transferred to Qincheng Prison, the organization issued an order that Wang Li should not be interrogated. This meant that he was not sentenced, but he also spent 14 years in prison in Qincheng. It was not until January 28, 1982, that Wang Li took off his prison clothes, walked out of prison, was officially granted citizenship, and returned to the life of an ordinary citizen.

At first, considering Wang Li's previous fame and safety after his release from prison, he was placed in a ministerial compound on Wanshou Road in Beijing.

Wang Li, Guan Feng, and Qi Benyu's lives after they were released from prison were the same three show talents, and their later years were different

Because it is a ministerial compound, it is not uncommon for sentries to rotate guard at the gate 24 hours a day. But for Wang Li, who has just come out of prison and has lived in prison for 14 years, there are sentries standing at the gate 24 hours a day, as if he is still in prison. This made him very uncomfortable and uncomfortable, so he asked to move out.

It's just that he wants to move out, which can be done in a while, and this matter has dragged on for almost two years before he is rearranged with a new home. At his request, the new home is located in a very ordinary residential neighborhood in Shanghai.

Although this new home can't catch up with the minister's compound, what Wang Li wants may be this down-to-earth life, and living here has made him quickly adapt to life after being released from prison.

Wang Li and his wife Wang Pingquan lived in a new home, which is a brand new two-bedroom apartment, although the area is not very large, only about 40 square meters, but for the old couple, it is also very satisfying. His wife Wang Pingquan is also old, and she takes care of her husband by herself, which is obviously a little difficult, so the Wang family hired a young girl in her early 20s as a nanny.

Daily cleaning, grocery shopping and cooking are handed over to the nanny, and Wang Pingquan mainly has to accompany her husband to the hospital every three to five. Because Wang Li was diagnosed with cancer in the mid-80s. From this beginning, he spent the rest of his life fighting the disease.

Time came to 1996, a year in which Wang Li's life also entered the countdown. He was so weak by the disease that he sat on the sofa, and after a long time, it was difficult for him to get up, and he had to be supported to get up.

Wang Li, Guan Feng, and Qi Benyu's lives after they were released from prison were the same three show talents, and their later years were different

On the evening of October 20, 1996, Wang Li went to the bathroom alone, and just pushed open the door and fell to the ground. His wife Wang Pingquan heard the noise, quickly got up to check, and saw her husband fall to the ground, she was so frightened that she quickly called the doctor.

After Wang Li was sent to the hospital, after some rescue, he finally stopped breathing and died in a cancer hospital in Beijing at the age of 75.

In his later years, Guan Feng ignored the affairs outside the window and followed the "three noes" principle

The name "Guan Feng" is not his real name, but a pen name, and his real name is "Zhou Yufeng"; When he was 20 years old, he officially used the pseudonym "Guan Feng", and this name also became his symbol.

Compared with Wang Li and Qi Benyu, Guan Feng is the "introverted" of the three, he rarely speaks in public and rarely appears in public, basically hiding himself between the lines. Wang Li is in charge of the international field in Hongqi Magazine, often needs to go abroad, Guan Feng is different, as the head of the philosophy team in the magazine, he specializes in philosophy, perhaps also formed his "introverted" personality.

In January 1968, Guan Feng was transferred to Qincheng Prison, and like Wang Li, he was exempted from arraignment and criminal prosecution, so he was not sentenced. However, like Wang Li, he spent 14 years in prison and was released in 1982, the year Guan Feng was 62 years old.

Wang Li, Guan Feng, and Qi Benyu's lives after they were released from prison were the same three show talents, and their later years were different

After being released from prison, Guan Feng was arranged to live in the family compound of the "Red Flag" magazine, and considering that he had no job and no source of income, he was given a living allowance of 150 yuan every month. After about three years, this subsidy has increased a lot, to 500 yuan. In the late eighties, that $500 was not a small amount.

At the end of the eighties, Guan Feng's treatment was finally finalized, and his treatment was the responsibility of "Red Flag" magazine. Of course, "Red Flag" had been changed to "Qiushi" magazine at that time.

After discussion, the magazine "Qiushi" said that because Guan Feng's official position was not low in those years, it was equivalent to the level of director, so he was finally given a bureau-level treatment for retirement. Guan Feng's housing, salary and other benefits in his later years were all under the management of Qiushi magazine.

In fact, when Guan Feng was first released from prison, he did not want to stay in Beijing, and when he was old, he wanted to return to his roots and return to Dezhou, Shandong to live.

The hometown learned that Guan Feng had the idea of returning to his hometown, so he first built him a new house in Texas, which was a two-story single-family building. It's just that later, because of his weak health, Guan Feng had to be hospitalized from time to time, which dispelled the idea of returning to his hometown.

Compared with Wang Li and Qi Benyu, Guan Feng's income in his later years was quite good, and in addition to his fixed salary every month, he also had his own manuscript fees.

Yan Changgui is Guan Feng's proud protégé, and in the eighties, the two lived together in the family compound of Qiushi Magazine, and the two were not far apart, and they often walked around. According to Yan Changgui's recollection, in the early nineties, his monthly salary plus manuscript income could have about 4,000 yuan.

Scold! It was the early nineties! What is the concept of 4,000 yuan per month, I am afraid it is not equivalent to the current monthly income of 20,000, right?

In Guan Feng's own words, he was a "bookworm" in his later years, ignoring the affairs outside the window and pouring himself into the pile of books. In his later years, he had the following three requirements for himself:

1. Don't talk about the past;

2. Do not write about the past;

3. Do not look at the past;

However, his "three noes" principle seems to Qi Benyu to be a bit of a cover-up and self-hypnosis. After all, the past years are also part of their own life, and they can't be shaken off, and trying to completely distance themselves from the past and try to completely forget is not something that people can do.

Perhaps it is also a good relationship with Guan Feng, Qi Benyu evaluated this old friend, which is why he is so straightforward.

Interestingly, Guan Feng and Qi Benyu had a lot of contact in their later years, and the two also co-published many books. On the contrary, he "snubbed" Wang Li and rarely contacted Wang Li, even if Qi Benyu was also in Shanghai, he also exchanged phone calls and letters with Guan Feng who was far away in Beijing from time to time, and there was not much movement between him and Wang Li.

Guan Feng's later years were very peaceful, and he was completely the life of a literati. After waking up at eight in the morning, go out for a walk and either eat breakfast outside or go home to eat. After that, he began to read and write, and most of the books he read in his later years were also in the field of Laozhuang philosophy.

There are few usual recreational activities, either watching TV or going to a nearby park to practice qigong. When he went out, he used to wear an old cadre hat, a Zhongshan suit, and an old-school attire.

In the 23 years between his release from prison in January 1982 and his death in 2005, Guan Feng's daily life has been immersed in research. In the rest of his 23 years, he published a lot of works, counting more than 400 million words.

On June 7, 2005, 86-year-old Guan Feng died of illness, and died at the age of 85.

In his later years, Qi Benyu went around in circles and became a librarian

Qi Benyu, who has the title of "Qi Dashuai", is actually the youngest of the three Xiucai, he is 10 years younger than Wang Li and 13 years younger than Guan Feng.

However, he won two points before he won the title of "Qi Dashuai", one is that he is tall and typical of Shandong man; Second, because he has a good eloquence, when his career is brilliant, he often gives public speeches, which is very infectious. Therefore, his followers also called him "Qi Dashuai".

Qi Benyu's education is not high, his serious education is only high school, after the founding of the People's Republic of China, he went to Peking University for further study in 1951. After his studies, he returned to Shanghai and worked as an ordinary librarian in the Shanghai Library. Perhaps, even he could not have imagined that decades later, after the baptism of ups and downs, he would return to the original point. In the early sixties, although Qi Benyu served as the section chief in the Letters and Visits Section, he was still a little-known person. Later, at the age of 32, he wrote an article criticizing Li Xiucheng's surrender and defection, which allowed him to seize the opportunity of the times, fish leap over the dragon gate, and people rely on wen.

The pen wants to get ahead, only with the article, Qi Benyu was famous for one article, although it did not cause the phenomenon of Luoyang paper expensive, although that article brought him a lot of criticism, and the voice of criticism is wave after wave. But controversy means that there is traffic, just when Qi Benyu fell into the voice of criticism, the great man happened to see his article, and with the approval of the great man, Qi Benyu turned over and officially started his proud career.

However, this literati's political career began with the barrel of the pen and was also destroyed by the barrel of the pen.

In August 1968, that night, Qi Benyu personally sent Guan Feng and Wang Li to the night of Diaoyutai Building 2, although he was not affected for the time being, but seeing the lonely back of the "Wang Guan" duo, perhaps, he also expected his own end.

In January 1969, Qi Benyu was also sent to Qincheng Prison.

Wang Li, Guan Feng, and Qi Benyu's lives after they were released from prison were the same three show talents, and their later years were different

Unlike Wang Li and Guan Feng, Qi Benyu was the one who was formally sentenced, and on November 2, 1983, he was sentenced to 18 years in prison. When he finished serving his sentence and was out of prison, Qi Benyu was 54 years old.

Because he had completed his sentence, he was arranged to work in the Shanghai Library for the rest of his life, a librarian decades ago when he was 19 years old.

However, although he was a small librarian, he was assigned a separate office. When Qi Benyu went to work, he usually closed the door and wrote in the house by himself. He is still the same character of the year, with a bold personality, not very slender, and in the summer, he wears a vest and is in good spirits.

After being released from prison, Qi Benyu lived with his wife Qiu Yunying, and he had more contacts with his younger daughter, and his relationship with his younger daughter was also quite deep. During the years when he was seriously ill, it was also his youngest daughter who took care of him at the hospital bed.

In the early nineties, Qi Benyu officially retired and began his life as a literati. At that time, he was in charge of history at Hongqi Magazine, and his title was the head of the history group, so in his later years, most of the articles he wrote and published works were also history.

Qi Benyu was 85 years old when he died, on April 20, 2016.

postscript

With the passing of the three show talents, an era has long been turned over.

I don't sing praises, nor do I belittle them, but I just objectively talk to you about the later life of these three shows after they were released from prison. As for their good or bad evaluations and behaviors, although everyone's opinion is different, I hope to have a correct concept of treatment.

To put it simply, it is such a sentence: inheritance that should be inherited, reflection that should be reflected, correction that should be corrected.

If it is a brainless brain that completely denies it, it is unacceptable; If it's a stream of praise, it's even more undesirable.

Note: Because this author is very rough, although the manuscript will be reviewed twice, if there is a mistake at some point in time, or in other aspects, do not care about the author, although it is pointed out, even if the words are sharp, this author's rough branches should be scolded!
