Episode 1/3: "Twelve Years as a Slave".
Don't rub it in, this is the picture of the forced black people to pick cotton in the United States in history. The blacks picked cotton under the scorching sun, could not rest when they were tired, and had to endure the constant whipping of the overseers. Some people were exhausted to death and then mercilessly buried on the spot. I can only eat one meal a day, which is some wild fruits and moldy bread. This is the true history of forced labor in the United States.
It was later adapted into the film "Twelve Years of Slavery" and also won the Academy Award for Best Picture.
Today, I will see the ugly face of the United States through this movie. The hero of the story is Solomon, a black man. He lived in the American North, where black affirmative action policies were already in place. Blacks and whites had equal human rights, and Solomon was an excellent violinist. Originally, his life was very happy, but until this day his nightmare began.
Two agents approached Solomon and invited him to a show, which would be paid heavily. This remuneration is enough for his whole family to live for half a year. Solomon agreed, but what he didn't know was that the two brokers were actually slave traders. Solomon's performance ended, and the two frantically poured wine on Solomon under the pretext of celebrating the success of the performance.
When Solomon woke up again, he was already wearing a leg cuff bracelet, and he looked dazed.
Just then, two traffickers came in. Solomon kept explaining to the two that he was a free man, not a black slave. But the trafficker did not care so much, and he was beaten up against Solomon: "At this moment, Solomon finally recognized the reality, he had been reduced from a violinist to a black slave."
Soon the southern estates came mainly to buy black slaves, and they stood together and took off their clothes, and they were at their disposal like commodities. Strong male slaves are bought to work, and beautiful female slaves you know. But when he came to Solomon, he had not done menial work, and no one with thin arms and legs would want to buy it. He was going crazy, because black slaves who could not be sold would be mercilessly killed.
Picking up the violin on the side and playing it, he wanted to prove that he had musical talent. Finally, a relatively kind manor owner could not bear it and bought him, although Solomon escaped.
