Recently, Tokyo University of Marine Science in Japan and the British Deep Sea Research Center successfully photographed a snail fish about 30 centimeters long and milky white at a depth of 8,336 meters in the Izu-Ogasawara Trench in the western Pacific Ocean, setting a new record for the deepest human observation of fish in the ocean. The researchers speculate that this is "already at or very close" to the maximum depth at which fish can survive in the ocean. (CNBC)
