Liu Lizhen was born in November 1929 in Bao'an, Shaanxi (present-day Zhidan County), and originally had an older brother and a younger brother by her side.
The elder brother was born in 1923, because his father Liu Zhidan participated in the revolution, not long after his birth, his mother and Guirong hid in a deep ravine with their brother in order to avoid the enemy's search, unfortunately contracted an illness, and died; the younger brother was born in 1935, when he was a few months old, the fever was not stopped, because his father Liu Zhidan was not at home, and his mother and Guirong could not find a doctor, so they asked a captured nationalist military doctor to help treat it.
At that time, Liu Lizhen had a fever with her brother and also took the medicine of the national military doctor, but she had a big life, and after surviving for a while, she was lucky to survive. Thus, in 1921, the 18-year-old Liu Zhidan and the 17-year-old Tong Guirong married, and by April 14, 1936, Liu Zhidan died on the front line of the Eastern Crusade against Japan.
Liu Lizhen's original name was Liu Lizhen, which was given by his father Liu Zhidan, which means "striving for the truth". Liu Lizhen was called Liu Lizhen because of a "beautiful mistake": In 1980, when the Deputy Director of the Fifth People's Congress Work Conference of Shaanxi Province was elected, Liu Lizhen became a candidate. When Liu Zhidan was sacrificed, Liu Lizhen was not yet 7 years old, and his mother, Tong Guirong, as Liu Zhidan's wife and assistant, made important contributions to the creation of the Shaanxi-Gansu revolutionary base area. Liu Lizhen was raided by the enemy at the age of 4 and grew up with his mother in the Red Army since childhood. At the end of 1934, after the Red Army moved to the Nanliang base area, the family had a brief reunion. Liu Lizhen gave everyone the impression at that time: "I don't talk much, but my memory is very good and I am very smart." ”
In the spring of 1936, the night before he led his troops to cross the Yellow River in the east, Liu Zhidan went home and said to Tong Guirong: "I want to be born to benefit the people, and to die to thank the people." After Liu Zhidan's death, because of illness, Tong Guirong was unable to attend the memorial service, nor did he tell his daughter Liu Lizhen the news, and the organization sent Liu Zhidan's guard Xie Wuxiang to take care of the lives of Tong Guirong and Liu Lizhen's mother and daughter, but Tong Guirong said that Xie Wuxiang was a strong young man, and the army needed him even more. The organization also asked Tong Guirong if she was willing to go back to her hometown, she could give her some sheep to maintain her life, but she stayed after careful consideration. She said: "Old Liu said before he died that if there is any accident, let me raise my daughter as an adult, and I hope that I will work in the revolutionary ranks to the end." Although I have no culture, I have a heart and two hands, and I can still do something in the Red Army. ”
After that, while raising orphans with hard work, Tong Guirong did her best to do more work for the revolution, making shoes, clothes, and military quilts for the Red Army, and everyone affectionately called her "Sister-in-law Liu". She also helped some Red Army family members to take care of their children, and some sisters had no milk or lacked milk after giving birth, so she hurried to find a nurse for the baby or find goat milk, rice soup and other dairy substitutes, and if individual comrades wanted to foster their children for work reasons, she carefully selected local reliable peasant families for them. In this regard, the sisters often sighed as they looked at the children who grew up day by day: "Thanks to Sister-in-law Liu!" ”
In the process, Liu Lizhen became a "big star" in northern Shaanxi, and Snow recorded her image at that time in "Journey to the West": a beautiful girl. The Red Army had made a special uniform for her; she wore an officer's belt and a red star on her hat, where everyone liked her; she was like a little marshal. Zhang Guang, whose real name is Wang Pengfei, was born in Lintong County, Shaanxi Province, joined the revolution in August 1943, joined the Communist Party of China in June 1946, and also had a revolutionary family, when he wrote to Liu Lizhen, he was a reporter for the "Border District Mass Daily" (the predecessor of Shaanxi Daily), which was founded in Yan'an in 1940.
Zhang Guang's family changed his surname to Li for the revolution, his uncle changed his surname to Zhao, and Zhang Guang changed his surname to Zhang, in fact, their surname was Wang. This Wang surname was not changed until Zhang Guang's next generation.
When Zhang Guang attended the high school of Yan'an University, Liu Lizhen studied at Yan'an Middle School. At that time, Zhang Guang was not only familiar with Liu Zhidan's heroic deeds, but also knew that Liu Zhidan had a daughter named Liu Lizhen, and even saw photos of Liu Lizhen when he was a child in books. In 1954, Liu Lizhen and Zhang Guang were "censored" by their mother and Guirong in Xi'an, and the relationship was truly determined. After getting married, Liu Lizhen, who graduated from Shenyang Medical College, was selected to study for a doctorate at Shanghai First Medical College with honors, studying traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture, and thus truly embarked on the road of medicine. During this period, Zhang Guang worked in the Northeast Branch of xinhua news agencies, the Liaoning branch, and the cultural and educational group of the headquarters, and some people once thought that his pursuit of Liu Li really paved the way for his career, and the organization at that time also wanted to promote him to be a leader, but he did not agree.
On the one hand, Zhang Guang loves journalism and thinks that when he becomes a journalist, he must go to the front line of the news to collect and write articles; on the other hand, Zhang Guang feels that if he really becomes a leader, others will think that he pursues Liu Lizhen to become an official, if so, the relationship between him and Liu Lizhen cannot be called love.
After graduating with a doctorate in 1958, Liu Lizhen returned to her hometown to work at Xi'an Medical College, and Zhang Guang also followed her to Shaanxi to engage in journalism. During this period, Liu Lizhen successively served as the director of Xi'an Medical Science Research Institute and the president of the Affiliated Hospital of Shaanxi Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The experience of work has allowed her to run all over the ditches and ridges of the yellow land and save countless hometown fathers and elders. She said: "As long as I can use my expertise to relieve the pain of everyone, I am happy." At this time, although she changed her name back to Liu Lizhen, everything she did was more like Liu Suzhen. After being elected vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the Shaanxi Provincial People's Congress, although his name was mistaken, "striving for the truth" was still deeply rooted in Liu Lizhen's heart. To this end, he often went deep into the fields to investigate the basic situation in the countryside. Once, she was investigating in Zizhou County, and the county party committee summoned the production team leader to report on the situation, but one of the production team leaders could not say how much grain was beaten in the team at the meeting.

But after Liu Lizhen further understood the situation, he knew that it was not that the production captain was not clear, but that the production captain had some concerns at that time and was unwilling to explain some things clearly. Since then, she has gone to the grassroots level to investigate and no longer "greet" in advance, but directly summoned the people and talked with the people face to face.
In April 1993, after Liu Lizhen left for retirement, he served as an adviser to the Northern Shaanxi Construction Committee and the president of the Shaanxi Provincial Association for the Promotion of the Construction of Old Districts, and still actively carried out party history research, running around and forgetting his work to speed up the construction of the old areas and carry forward the spirit of Yan'an. On the afternoon of May 4, 1999, the 94-year-old Tong Guirong died in Xi'an, the daughter of a farmer in northern Shaanxi, who has been engaged in early childhood education for a long time in the more than 60 years since her husband's death, and has paid all her efforts for the cause of early childhood education in the motherland and worked for the party for more than 60 years. Before his death, Liu Lizhen and his wife Zhang Guang had gone to the place where Liu Zhidan had died. On September 15, 2019, Zhang Guang died in Xi'an at the age of 90 due to ineffective medical treatment. This old newspaperman who has followed Liu Lizhen all his life has also taken his own life.
